Hi everyone I am new to this site I have been an LPN for almost 3 years. I was recently suspended without pay due to being accused of verbal abuse. I have been unable to find out exactly what it is that I did wrong. I know I did have an incident with the resident. The resident became up set cried for a few seconds and then yelled at me. Work isn't giving me an answer so I emailed the NY BON. I did not have to go infront of the state. I was let go and told it was due to not upholding their core values. I did not yell or curse or speak down to the resident.
Can they suspend me with out a weeks pay?
Can they not tell me what I did wrong?
I am very confused.
Thanks for everyones input. There was an incident but I was the one being yelled at but the resident as no documented behaviors. This was the first time the resident had yelled at me. But the resident has made statements to staff such as I am well liked around here she won't be coming back. I have also heard that resident accused me of not giving the PRN pain meds untill the resident apologized. Which is ridiculous because the meds were within the residents reach the whole time she yelled at me untill she took them, and I would never tell a resident to apologize.
I am just moving on its not worth the fight because i doubt there is anyway to win and I don't have the money to fight it.

I find it hard to believe the state investigated you. If often takes months to investigate very serious matters, let alone a complaint of verbal abuse. I would contact a lawyer before calling the BON. You don't want to open an investigation into you if there wasn't one to begin with. It could just be that your employer is lying about the whole BON thing. I would move on and look for new employment.
