Acclerated RN Degrees

Nurses General Nursing

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on here has had the pleasure of completing an accelerated RN program? There is one about 35-40 minute drive from me at another community college. Does anyone know of the demands of that sort of curriculum? Apparently the duration of the program is approximately 13 months, whereas the program at the college I attend is 4 semesters. After I earn the RN, I plan to work on the BSN an have considered an accelerated program for that degree too. I just want to know the demands of such intense study...is it better to drag it out over a years or get it done quickly? I would like to hear personal experiences and how families coped!

Another question is regrading salary--what is a typical starting salary for a newly qualified RN? I am eager to hear first hand from folks who have walked out of an RN program, straight to employment and what benefits were offered. Also, were the school loans forgiven? Many thanks, Michelle:heartbeat
