Hello, I'm graduating with a BA in sociology from Lehman in May. I'm looking to apply to some nursing programs in the nyc area(open to aas programs)but Im looking for feedback on schools people have gotten into with grades similar to mine. I got an 86 on the TEAS V and an 88 on the HESI. My prereq grades are
AP1:A
AP2:C+
Micro:C-
Gen.Chem Lecture:B+ Lab:A
Orgo Lecture:C Lab:B
Statistics:A
Anyone out there?

What's your exact GPA? Not too familiar with New York schools, one of my classmates applied to NYU and got in with a 3.5 GPA. You should look into that school.
My gps is 3.02 I know low I'm looking more at associates programs or affordable bsn programs. Anyone know if I maybe have a chance at Dorothea Hopfer,Cochran,Bronx Community College,LIU or any others?

Your micro grade is low, most schools want C+ or higher, at the lowest a C, even associates programs. I graduated from associate program and my program u need C+ or higher, but people getting accepted have much higher than that. Retake your micro to at least be in the running in NY.
Thanks @nursewr I know. I'm going to Bronx community college in the fall. Micro is not a prereq for them, you take it with your nursing courses. I'm going to repeat micro and maybe even AP2 and take developmental psych and nutrition then apply to BCC's program and a few others and hopefully I'll be in better standing.

I'm in an associates nursing program in nyc. I had a pretty good gpa, 3.98 prereq and did okay on my entrance exam (128 nln). Only have a year left till nclex. I'm not sure what bronx cc requirements are to get in, but I'm almost sure they have an entrance exam. Make sure you study well for that and blow that exam out of the water. I've seen students get in with average GPA but phenomenal Teas/hesi/nln score. I've also seen students with 4.0 get rejected because they're entrance exam was way below standard. All about balance and compensating for weak spots. Few schools allow repeating prereqs though, find out their policy on that. Just apply and see what happens..
Also, Generally, schools like bmcc and cuny schools in the city are very very hard to get into since everyone wants to be in the city. Cuny schools in the outer boroughs are a little easier from my experience
Negatron.. Very true about repeating courses. Quite a few schools I know only take one science repeat out if all sciences. (For grade purposes)
Thanks for the responses. I'd given up on nursing completely for obvious reasons(terrible grades in some prereqs)but it's what I really want to do. I see my grades are not going to make the cut so I guess I have to just let it go. Thanks for the info guys.
I'm sorry to hear, but wish you best of luck with whichever route you take in your career

I'm currently a student at BCC. You are allowed to repeat that micro grade, lowest grades accepted are C+. Like others have stated CUNY schools are more competitive but I believe you have a chance at BCC. I was at Lehman before coming to BCC. Good luck.
@besrey Do you mind sharing your grades at the time you were accepted to the nursing program? thank you so much for your response. Ive decided that I am taking this opportunity and taking a chance. The prereqs for BCC are AP1 which I have an A in and English which I have an A in,I have a B+ in psych and I'll be taking pharm and comm at BCC. I think those are okay grades. I took the TEAS before and got an 86 so I'm sure I'll do even better when I take it at BCC. Is there any info at all you can share I'm looking for all the info I can get.
