Accepted Simmons Accel Nursing Dix scholar 2011

Published

Any applied and got into Simmons Accel Nursing Dix scholar in May-Sept 2011 and graduating 2013?

I was accepted to the 18 month program in December because I decided to take my last two prerequisites there. It is a GREAT school, and I am so excited to start nursing classes in July. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Congratulations! I see that you like the school already... I hope I'll meet all of you guys in July as I am still unable to clarify if I got accepted to the summer or fall entry :(

I was accepted into the 2-year Dix Scholar program back in December. I had a choice between the 18-month and 2-year, but I opted for the 2-year so as not to rush myself. I am at Simmons this semester finishing my prerequisites, and so far I love it. I can't wait for the nursing sequence to start in September.

I might be attending the 2 years program as well because I was disqualified for the 18 months :( do you have an idea of how the schedule looks like, would it be possible to work part time meanwhile?

Your schedule depends on a few things...

1. Will you have all the prereqs done by September?

2. Have you gotten your TCE?

If you have all your prerequisites completed, you might only be taking two classes. If you have met all the distribution requirements, then you will definitely only be taking two classes. The classes meet, from what I have heard, 2 days a week. It is definitely possible to work for the first year. I have heard the second year is harder, but not impossible. The fall schedule comes out sometime this coming week, so I can get back to you. Simmons is a lot of fun!

Thanks! Yes I will be done with the prereqs this semester, I already got my TCE and I covered all the areas required by Simmons so basically I got all 80 credits. My fear was that I will not be able to work since the classes would be scattered all over the day or something, and if that was the case it is impossible that I can afford spending 2 years without any sort of income. Please do get back to me when you have any updates.

Thanks again

I have!!!!! will you be in my class??? And I believe we graduate December 2012

My letter say May but I'm taking my last prerequisite (growth and dev) at Quincy coll. I thought it would be July. Jennat which prerequisite are you taking at Quincy college?

and yes, you start in July if you don't need to take the May-start 8-week prerequisites at Simmons. I start in July after finishing up my last prereq elsewhere as well :) The letter is just standard for everyone and says May in case you need to finish up prereqs with them

We may be classmates! 80 of my credits were transferred. I've been registered for classes and labs. One is starting June 27th. Can't wait to meet you guys.

yayyy, I can't wait either! hmm so that means classes start a little bit before July. Good to know! I need to call them on Monday to get more details on what our schedules will be, etc.

Yea it does. As far as I know, We will not be in class or lab on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Oh wow, that's surprising! I thought they'd have us going to class at least 5x/wk. Do we have weekends 'off'?

From July to August it's like. But starting September it will definetly change. School and practicum everyday
