I am in NY state and will be attending a brick and mortar program starting in the fall. Anyone else here doing Psych NP? All my friends are going/have gone the FNP route lol.
Thanks for all the info Jane. I am currently in the process of completing my application for the Psych NP program at Rivier University in Nashua,NH. I just took my MAT test on Saturday so all I have left now is a personal interview with the Dean/staff. I hope to get in and start in the fall. It seems like a really good program.
Barnstormin', that is interesting about New York! I did not know that. It is too bad, as that can be very limiting. The reason given is that they want to control the quality of the programs, but I think it is more about $$$! :) What school did you pick? I was looking at Stoneybrook.
I have seen the Stahl books referred to, a few times on this site. I'm going to order today, as I start Pharm I later this month. TY. Good to know about the prescribing guide!
Sarah, that sounds like a great plan! I did not have to take the MAT, another reason I chose my school. How long will Rivier take to get through the program? Do you live in NH, or is that an easy commute? Online?
Barnstormin : I am a new resident of Upstate NY & applying to PMHNP program for Fall 2015. There are not many NP school here. Which school did you get in ? Are you happy with your current program? Do they help you with the clinical placement? Sorry to bombard you with so many questions... need advise ! thank you !!!
@JaneBSN , Im glad I finally found someone who is proud of Regis College NP program. BC is my first choice then MGH and Regis College but I really want to do the PMHNP in the Fall 2017 and Im an RN student and experienced LPN if that counts. How did you like the program overall? I guess you are done now. By pre arranged clinicals you mean the school wil find us preceptors, is that correct?

NY doesn't accept online programs either, except for Frontier and they don't offer Psych. I think there is one other program but I can't think of it off hand.
Have any of you looked at the Stahl books for Pharmacology? I got "The prescriber's guide" to start studying and I really like it so far. I see he is highly rated and I was thinking of ordering the textbook "Essential Pharmacology"....any opinions or better suggestions? I tend to work ahead lol.
