About a month ago I accepted my first nursing job. I don't start until October 27th(taking boards first). I found out 4 days ago that I am pregnant. While I am thrilled with this news I'm a little nervous how the my new job will be affected. I will be just starting my second trimester by the time I start orientation, which means I will only be working for 6 months before I take Maternity leave( 3 months)... I have already worked at this facility for 5 years, and I can see myself here for a long time. Is it wrong to still take the position? Do they have a right to not hire me now? Any info or advise would be appreciated...Thank you...

My orientee is due at the end of this month. She was hired and will be just almost off orientation when she is going to be off with maternity leave. She will get a few weeks after she comes back to "catchup" and then will be off on her own.
Dont let it bother you, you will be fine. Get your NCLEX taken as soon as possible and go ahead with orientation as usual. Hope everything goes well.

Those dog gone babies just show up and demand attention at the most inopportune times, don't they? :chuckle You've been working at this place for 5 years. I'm sure you're not the first of their employees who has gotten pregnant. They should deal with this like they do for any other employee.
