I just got my letter Wednesday that I have been accepted :yeah:to Drexel's ACE program for Spring 2009, I am excited:lol2:, scared:scrying:, nervous and anxious. I have been readying the boards everyday for a month before I joined, I have found so much useful information:bowingpur. If anyway has word of wisdom, encouragment, I welcome them with open arms.
no, I applied in the beginning of this year when I was take the first out of five pre-req I needed. Apply now don't wait, because the spring is the smaller of the two classes they take each year. I would apply now and wait to hear something. I still have 3 pre-req to go. Hopefully we will be together in the program. Don't wait apply on line now. Good Luck.
Congrats and good luck!
i'm a drexel graduate, not an Ace, 5-year co-op. Oh, trust me...i had to take 19 to 20 credits each quarter because i transferred in as a bio major and still needed lots of work done. And with those 20credits, i worked full time. Most of my friends were in the ACE program. It certainly not easy but it's possible to make straight A's going through the program - i did.
My advice, don't waste too much money at the bookstore. i stopped buying textbooks after adult 1 because i was not super happy about them for making us buy books we didn't need. There are certain books that are helpful for each class. while i wouldn't wanna post specifics on this board, when you study instructors carefully, you can tell where they take their questions from. Hahnemann library has everything you need to make an A in your classes. I know the call letters like i do my date of birth. So make use of them. I never read my maternity textbook... actually, i didn't buy the textbook and i didn't borrow from the library either. I just used one review series and made an A+ and 99.99 on the HESI.
Talk to people who are ahead of you to get tips from them. Don't be scared of your instructors, they really aren't there to "make you fail". They are nice people and honestly, i have a complete set of a review series in my bedroom and i borrowed it from an instructor. I promised to return it after the winter quarter and let see, i went through the spring quarter, graduated and i still have them. I'll return them though. But if you really need a textbook, as the instructor if they have a second copy. Just be sure to return it at the end of the quarter and say thank you, then stand in their office and look at their bookshelves and pick the next book you want and ask if you can have if for the term. Instructors get review series and other helpful stuff from publishers and they willingly give it out. I actually got a copy of a book that wasn't out yet and it was given to me because i told her i'll write a review for the book...no i didn't have time to write it but no one cares. anyway..
Drexel has a rigorous program. I don't get stuff like the sp experience and some things drove me crazy but you'll have to set priorities and have GOOD time management skills. They throw you wherever they want for clinicals and even if you have someone to switch with, they wouldn't allow it. I am so glad i'm done. Like i said, the first quarter might be a little hard for you because you're still trying to learn the ropes but don't let that discourage you if you don't do well.
Draper does test taking sessions and it's usually catered towards seniors taking the HESI. I followed a bunch of ACE seniors when i first started to one of her sessions and boy am i glad i did. She teaches you most of the test taking skills you need. It really helped me so watch out for times when she does them and go. Or if you see her on campus, ask her when she'll hold a session.
hope this helps.

Hi nursin09!
I was also just accepted to ACE for Spring '09. I was curious, have you received the letter yet letting you know what classes they're accepting? I know I have to take Nutrition and Ethics but I'm really hoping they're going to accept my Psychology Stats for the Stats requirement so I don't have to take 3 classes next semester while working full time...:imbar
I too ditto your excited, scared, nervous & anxious feelings, not sure what to expect, but I'm ready for the challenge!
That's interesting you got that letter first..My acceptance letter and their website say that transcripts aren't evaluated until you're accepted.. I guess they were just on top of your stuff! I feel like I waited so long for "the" letter, and now I have to wait even longer for the class one and the financial aid one (not that I'm holding out much hope that I'll get much $$, but hey, we can all wish!
)
Did you take a Math Stats? Or was it from another subject?
Well they don't, I was accepted on May 18th, when I called they told me may letter was mailed onMay 23rd, I was getting letter once a week. I got the letter congratulating me on my acceptance and the eval was with it. I then received a letter from the undergrad office congratulating me, the I received my welcome packet. the last thing that can was my fin. aid packet. Oh I forgot they send u the information about senting up your drexel email accounts. It may take a little longer right now because they are preparing for the incoming class but don't worry it is all coming and every letter that comes your excitment will build.

Did you have all of your pre-req's completed when you applied? I applied for the Spring 2009 term in May and I'm hoping it doesnt take too long to hear back. I only have 4 classes I need to take before starting in the Spring and I am already registered to take them this summer and fall. I hope that doesnt hold up my application.
