Hey good for you! It's a good feeling to be accepted. I was accepted to Holy Family University for the fall of 2008 but am awaiting a reply from Temple University now. Everyday I check the mailbox.
I am taking my prerequisites at CCP. If Temple is a no I will start at Holy Family this fall, but then it will take me 4 years to do this. I don't care, I can't go through the process of applying anymore. Plus with Holy Family I can still work for a few more years and just take things slower.
Congrats, whitehat!
I was checking the mail everyday too. I'm actually a career changer (not that I had much of a career, just several different jobs since college). I was taking prereqs while I was working, so I'm glad I only have to take 7-10 units per semester and be done in two years. I should be able to take it a little easy (I hope) and work at the same time as a PCA or something. I do plan to take an RN-BSN-MSN bridge at a university immediately after completing the ADN.
It could take me 4 years or longer to get a BSN, but it's good to take things slow and enjoy life. This was another reason for going to CCP. I can't wait to finish all the required prereqs for other schools I was interested in. Plus, dw and I are planning to start a family soon.
The website is not so helpful to navigate, but you have to attend an orientation first and then apply. The orientations for Fall 2009 will be starting in September. If you go to the main CCP page and go to the academic departments section, you can noodle around and there is a application flow chart as well as course sequence.
roxyemt: I started by applying to the school since I'm from out of state. Then, I attended their informational session. I don't know why they don't publish their schedule for this online, but you can pick it up at the Welcome Center. During the informational session, you'll have a chance to fill out a form to petition for Nursing as your major. After that, I submitted my transcripts. They will schedule you for the Allied Health Test (I scored the max, but was told later that I didn't have to take it since I already have a Bachelor's and that they will not count it). Finally, I just waited for the acceptance letter. You'll get a pamphlet during the informational session that will show you how they score you as an applicant. I hope this helps and good luck.
I also was accepted into the CCP Nursing program fall 2008. I was very shocked that I was accepted so soon. I applied in January 2008, just see what would happen. There were so many people in the nursing registration class, and I was under the impression that there was always a waiting list. I have a BS in Community Health and I always wanted to become a Nurse. I took Bio 109 and Nutrition in Spring 2008. March 23rd I received my letter of acceptance, and I cried like I had won a million dollars. Nursing is my dream career. When i tell people of my acceptance into the program they always ask how long did I have to wait....I guess there are a lot of people who are not accepted and have to wait another year to apply I thank God I was accepted, right away! :yeah:I can't wait to start! At the same time I can!
I just meet with an advisor, she told me that as long as I had all of prereqs before 12/08, A's & B's on my transcript I would be a shoe in for 2009. I will attend the first information session in october. Although I have a withdrawal on my transcript from 2002, I have a recorded reason for it. She suggested I bring a letter of reason and all should be fine. Make sure you keep great grades and it will not be a problem for you to get in.

Well, I just got my acceptance letter today from Community College for Philadelphia (CCP). Yay! It was the only school I applied to, so I am happy to be offered admission. For those waiting on CCP, you may be getting your acceptance letter soon. :nuke:
