@Ashley...you're mail just might take longer. Think happy thoughts and try to remain positive. We're all pulling for you!

@SuzyQ, I took my basic chem (CHM101) online through Southside University Community College over the summer. It was entirely online, including the labs!!! They are a VCCS school and it transferred into NVCC without a hitch. It's probably not too late to join the class. I believe it was a 10 weeker. I took BIO 141/142 and micro combo.

@Everyone else - YAY!!! Congratulations. I can't wait to meet you all. Didn't it say we would be buying our books at orientation? How can we buy our books if we haven't signed up for our classes yet? Did I read that wrong? I'm just so excited.

also did anybody see anything about a math test at orientation this year that applied to traditional? I didn't but my friend applied to LPN to RN and they have one on their first day of class and they recommended a book for them.

I have heard that they have done that in the past at orientation. Could you find out what book they recommended for her?

Did you have to get division approval to take micro? The course catalogue says that the pre-req for micro is BIO141 and 142 plus CHM 111 and 112. sorry to side track, I am just curious

YES I can, will let you guys know :)

No problem Suzie,

Nope, never got approval and never took anything higher than chem 101. Maybe it's changed? I took it last fall. Hope that helps!

Traditional; a Facebook page would be great. I was planning on buying my books from Amazon--always cheaper. I hope there's enough turn around time between getting the book list and ordering them. I heard they're big on trying to get you to buy from their book sellers. Anyone have any info. on texts? I'm so excited!:)

From looking at the catalog, I think we will all be taking NUR111 and NUR150 the first semester. I suppose that's how we can buy our books before we register for classes. I wish there was some way to have a ballpark idea when these classes are going to be so I can tell my employer. I plan to reduce my hours at work to 20 for the first semester and see how that goes along with school and kids. If that's too hard I will bail on my job and starve! Is anyone else going to try to work that has kids too?

First off, congratulations! :yeah:

BIO141 & BIO142

The only prerequisite required is ENG111. You do not need a year of chemistry (CHM111 & CHM112) as it is reserved for BIO205. You also need two of either: BIO 101, 102, 110, 120, 141, or 142 for BIO205.

Drug Test/Background Check Information

While it is technically not attached, the information should be available on Blackboard at a later date. The organization tab will cover a good portion of the questions being asked, but I do understand the confusion as the letter does state: "Directions for ordering the background check and drug screening test are attached."

Class Browse/Catalog

There is a way to check for classes this upcoming Fall 2011. These classes should be, for the most part, final in terms of dates and times. All courses last from August 22, 2011 to December 19, 2011.

NUR111 (Lecture)

Monday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

NUR111 (Lab)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday

(1) 8:00 am - 11:00 am

(2) 11:30 am - 2:30 pm

(3) 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

NUR150

Monday 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Tuesday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Thursday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Friday 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Unfortunately, I cannot help with the clinical as they are chosen by the professors teaching the courses. For what it seems, however, they are: Tuesday or Wednesday, ranging from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

If you would like to check it for yourself, it is located on SIS. Just make sure you search for Fall 2011 classes, not Summer 2011. As covered in the letter, these classes will not be available for sign-up until August 18 at 10 am, so be ready at that time to get the one you like. Have a back-up as well just in case you are too late to add it.

Hope this helps ease the search and congratulations once more!
