You're very welcome. I like to help if I can!!! Try Amazon first, I bought my books online for cheap and they were in pretty good conditions. If you go to Barnes & Nobles they can be pricey.....

I would give you my books, but I'm going to use the med-surg ones again this semester. If you want to I can lend you the psych books if you don't want to buy them but I'd like them back at the end of the semester because I might have to use them for the Nclex.

To the moderator:

I am sorry I didn't know we couldn't use our teachers names, but I totally understand and it makes perfect sense!

Daniela

You are right, amazon can be alot cheaper but i can't wait to start knocking those book off and be ahead like you suggested. But i would just get them from amazon. And could you please tell me the names of all the books that you used in med-surg including the nclex ones. I don't want to miss out on anyone. Yeah sure, i wouldn't mind borrowing the ones for psych so i could get an A like you did (just kidding) and ofcourse i would give them back.

So how are you preparing for the third semester?

Hi,

You've had such good advice. Do you think that I should take an online Pathophysiology over the summer in prep for second semester?

Thanks

Ok so here are the books I used (and be using again this semester) for Med-Surg:

Med-surg Success: A Course Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking by Kathryn Cadenhead Colgrove and Judy Callicoat (Davis's Success Series)

Prentice Hall Nursing Reviews & Rationales: Medical-Surgical Nursing (2nd Edition) by Mary Ann Hogan, Stacy Estridge, Dolores Zygmont, and Joan Davenport

Fluids and Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy! (Incredibly Easy! Series) by Springhouse

Nclex-RN Review made incredibly easy

Nclex-RN examination review by Saunders (I have the 3rd edition but I think they came out with the 4th already).

I think this is enough for now :D

As I said, start with fluids and electrolytes, that should be your first test.

Ok then, I will lend you my psych books, I might also be able to lend you the Psych textbook but I'm lending it to a friend of mine for the 1st 8 weeks so hopefully he'll return it as soon as the class ends.

We can meet up the first day of the semester, we'll both have lecture on Mondays for Med-Surg......

As far as preparing for third semester goes.....well I'm still on break mode hehe.....but we already have our readings assignment for the class so I better start on that soon.......

I would take a pathophysiology class before entering 3rd or 4th semester. Second semester they don't really go in depth with patho so you won't really need it.

El Camino offers a patho class during the winter session. A few of my classmates are taking it right now but they told me that it's more geared towards 4th semester students. So I would just wait, if you take it in the summer, by the time you get into 3rd or 4th semester you'll have forgotten everything :)

Congrats on surviving the first semester. I find myself meeting more student dying to get into the program then student who are already in the program. Is it what you expected?

As for the Patho class, it's always a good idea, it might heavy your workload but in the end it can only help you. :)

Yeah its what I expected....and than some!!!! I thought that the pre-req was the hard part, and when I got into the program I was so happy and excited with the attitude of " I can do this, no problems" but boy was I wrong it is a hell of a challege but in the end it is all worth it. You just have to think differently, and wrap you mind around applying the knowledge and not just knowing it...:D:crying2::eek::mad: these are all the emotions that I have felt and will conitnue to feel until I get to the end result :nurse: lol
