I've been reading allnurses.com for some time, but never felt right to actually join until I became a nursing student.

I finally got my acceptance letter!!! Wow!! Talk about a realm of emotion!! I'm so excited and ready to get this ball rolling!!

I'm a mother of 3 with very active children involved in school activites and sports...can you send along any advice on how to juggle it ALL!?!

Congrats mylittleangels! You should be extremely proud of yourself. If you figure out how to effectively balance everything, throw some advice my way. I've only got two, but they are definitely a handfull. Congrats again and the best of luck to you.

Congrats! I have 3 kids too... 12, 8, and soon to be 4. They are a handful. I just got accepted to start Fall of 2011. Which is perfect timing because I am still taking all the general/non-nursing courses required for an ADN so when I start the nursing program I will be done with those courses and I can just concentrate on the nursing classes and clinicals. Good luck to you and welcome to the forum!

I too was just accepted for this coming fall and it is so exciting! The best thing to do is make sure you have plenty of people to help you. You are not a super hero and cannot do it all by your self. My fiance really steps up w/ house work and cooking so that i can focus on school and it is a huge help.

Good luck!

I too was accepted this week. I have two kids, 13 and 7 and a wonderfully supportive wife whom I and a nurse friend of ours have been preparing for my near total absence over the next couple years.

I wish I had advice for you beyond what has already been said. Call in every favor from everyone you know. I'd bet your colleagues in the program have some helpful hints and guidance for you as well.

Good luck to you!

Congrats - you have a long but rewarding road ahead of you! I also have three kids and am currently in my second semester of nursing classes with just two more to go before graduations!! Definitely make sure you have friends and family that are able to help with things like getting the kids on and off the buses if necessary. Depending on how old they are will depend on things that you can include them with with your education. I had my 9 year old drilling me on things for one of my tests, and my husband participated by acting out some conditions so that I would remember them. I have a nursing book that uses words and images to help you remember things, and will copy the pages out and have my preschoolers color them. There are lots of things you can do, and you will probably have to accept that some things are going to fall by the wayside, like having a clean house and all of the laundry caught up. I have also had to accept that not an A in all my classes is okay, as long as I know the material, which my instructors also backed up. Good luck, and you will have to let us know how it goes!
