Accelerated or Traditional BSN or AS???

Published

So I have my BS in Criminal Justice and am almost done with my prerequisites to apply to an accelerated nursing program. My Undergrad GPA is about a 3.4 and I'm starting to feel like getting into a BSN program is grim. Should I continue to push getting into a BSN program or just go for an AS? This is stressing me out because I don't want to waist unnecessary time or money in the wrong program. Any ideas?

I am in the same situation you are.

I have my BA and am trying to get into a nursing program.

I would def try to get into a BSN or Entry Level masters program.

We have an advantage in applying to some BSN programs because they require an undergrad degree already.

So my first choice is a BSN program, but my backup choice is the community college.

But then again if cost is an issue a community college might be a better decision. It all depends on your lifestyle, living situation, and whaty you really want.

Everything as27 said. Also, do you like the rigorous studying regiment, as well as how good are you at working hard and working fast. If you can tolerate pressure well, and is organized, don't mind working hard, go for an accelerated BSN program. If you don't want to...then go for the regular AS program.

Also, take into consideration of cost too. I picked an accelerated BSN program due to the fact it is only one year, instead of a AS program which may take longer.

Does anyone know if there is a salary difference between an BS in nursing or AS when I already have a BS?
