Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Programs

Nursing Students General Students

Hi,

I'm looking for any recommendations that people might have for accelerated 2nd degree BSN programs. I only had a 2.9 cumulative when I earned my BA, but I'm currently taking the prereq sciences Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc. and doing very well. I'm seeking any recommendations for programs that maybe aren't too difficult to get into and/or don't have a long waiting list and aren't ridiculously expensive. I'm currently in Minnesota and all of my options up here have long wait lists, are extremely selective, very picky with particular requirements and only accept students once every year or two. I'm open to moving just about anywhere as I've lived all over.

Thanks!

Hi! I go to Georgia State University, and I love my ABSN program! They accept new students twice per year. Tuition including fees is $2900 per semester. Books were $1100 first semester, but only $250 second semester. They only use your program GPA (the classes that are part of a BSN) to base acceptance on, as well as an essay and recommendations, and the NET test. So, if you're getting all A's in your prereqs, you may have a pretty good GPA (as far as Georgia state nursing school is concerned). Also, Kennesaw State University has a great ABSN program that is affiliated with the Wellstar Hospital System (great hospitals!). You should check it out. Cost of living is pretty inexpensive compared to other parts of the country! Good luck!

DePaul University Master's Entry to Nursing Program. You don't get yet another bachelor's, and you graduate with a generalist MSN and half the work towards an advanced practice certification already out of the way.

That, and you can get the Feds to back a lot more of your loans by going the graduate route. As in, $100k debt ceiling on top of the Stafford loans.
