I have applied to the Accelerated BSN program at both UNF and JU for summer '08. Has anyone heard good or bad feedback for either program? Is anyone currently attending either program and would like to give their opinion about what they feel is special about their program? I have had an interview already with JU and now waiting for an interview invite from UNF:bugeyes:. I would like to be well informed before I make a choice, if I have a choice. :wink2: Good luck to all that are still waiting on letters.
Yes, I am starting the second degree program May 12th. I have seen several post that refer to the accelerated and second degree programs as though they were seperate programs, I thought they were the same thing?? I am still in shock a little that I got in so everything that's a day late makes me nervous their gonna call and say they made a mistake Once I have all my student info I feel like it will be more real
I haven't received mine either. If I don't get it today I'm calling Chris tomorrow.
Sarah, thanks for the call. I found out about that form when I went to JU on Friday and just happened to stop by the FA office and talked to someone different and they asked if I had filled out that form. I was so mad because I had spoken to two different people two weeks earlier in the office face to face and neither one said anything about that form. I went over and told Chris that he probably needed to notify everyone about the form.
I can't wait to meet everyone.
Yes, I can understand your frustration. I have spoken with Financial Aid several times and no one ever said anything about that form. Also, did you know you have to fill out the 2007-2008 FAFSA for this summer and then the 2008-2009 for the Fall, Spring and next summer? I have figured out that you have to ask very specific questions when you call them. I always ask is there anything else I need to do in order to receive Financial Aid.
Hama-the Accelerated and the Second Degree program are the same thing at JU. I think they refer to everything as Second Degree but a lot of other people refer to it as accelerated. And yes, there is a form that you need to fill out in order to receive Financial Aid for the summer. You can go to ju.edu and then click on My JU. Click on Financial Aid, click on Forms and then under 2008 Summer Financial Aid Request Forms click on Nursing.
Can't wait to meet everyone! I will be in sunny Florida next weekend!
I am in the second-degree BSN program. Yes I would choose this same program again. I was accepted into all three schools in my area. I wanted to get my degree done and I haven't had to work during this time. I received an academic scholarship, stafford loans, and I had to get a private loan. I have enjoyed the personal touch that a private school provides. We get cell phone numbers for our professors and have access to our skills lab on the weekends. I wouldn't do anything less than a BSN because hospitals that have a magnet status or are trying to get magnet status won't hire you. Good luck in your choice.

I got my letter from UNF on Thursday and I got in! I'm excited.
