I have applied to the Accelerated BSN program at both UNF and JU for summer '08. Has anyone heard good or bad feedback for either program? Is anyone currently attending either program and would like to give their opinion about what they feel is special about their program? I have had an interview already with JU and now waiting for an interview invite from UNF:bugeyes:. I would like to be well informed before I make a choice, if I have a choice. :wink2: Good luck to all that are still waiting on letters.
BSN-Florida08,
Congradulations on your up coming graduation! It's all down hill from here!
Thanks for the great post. I am torn between the two programs. I have been volunteering at an ER and LOVE it. I have been impressed with JU through this whole process. They waited for me the Friday before Spring Break to give me a tour of their facilities (which I didn't arrive there until 5:00pm and they stayed with me for over an hour to answer any questions I had) I also got to talk with two students that were there working on a project. I have requested a tour at UNF and they can't seem to do this for me. I am interested in the new FNP/with critical care focus at JU. (BIG FUTURE plans) I just don't know if I want to pay private university tuition for my BSN. My daughter is a junior at a private univ. so we are already going that route. My husband told me to do which ever one I wanted. (I am so blessed to have him)
I received my first BA from UNF so I am familar with the school itself. You have given me a lot to think about. Thanks again.
I received my acceptance letter today from FCCJ today!
I am excited but I have to let them know if I will be attending there by Feb 28th. I won't hear from JU or UNF until mid to late March. The AS program at FCCJ is my last choice because I want to be in an Accelerated BSN program. I know that it is not right to hold a seat when others could and would take it, but I also don't want to give up a seat and then not get accepted anywhere else. I just didn't think that they would want an answer back so quick. Lots of phone calls and a big decision to make.
Nursing school here I come!!!!!!!!!
I've been accepted to JU!!!!!!!!! I received a call yesterday afternoon..there was a message left on my phone. Official letters go out on Monday. I will be giving up my seat at FCCJ on Monday. I really wanted an Accelerated BSN program. Still have my interview with UNF this coming Friday.
I can't believe in 4 1/2 weeks I will be starting nursing school. It has been a long trip getting here. Congratulations to those that make the summer class. I can't wait to meet you. We have a long road in front of us.
For those that don't ....keep your head up and keep trying.......if it is worth having, it is worth working for no matter how long it takes.
CONGRATULATIONS JULIE! I too was accepted to the JU program and I will be moving down to Florida in may. I am super excited because JU was my first pick and looking forward to living in a new place.
NoleNurse08-I would love absolutely any advice that you have. Honestly I don't even know what questions to begin to ask. Right now my main concern is getting registered and moving down to Florida.

Ooops, sorry about that.....
There are at least 100 students in one of my main classes - a bit more Upper Division students than Accelerated students.
I am taking 13 credit hours - the classes I am taking are as follows:
- Pathophysiology
- Pharmacology
- Ethical/Legal Asp Nur & Health Care
- Nursing Inquiry
I spend most of my free time studying - well, I try to. I never studied this much for my 1st degree - I am glad I changed my study habits for the better. I think I could probably do more fun things in my free time, but I am really taking my education seriously this time around and want to pass all my classes. So far it has not been horrible, but Inquiry is giving me (and some of my friends) a hard time. Overall though, it's pretty neat to actually be here!! Let me know if you have any other questions - feel free to PM me as well!
