Accelerated BSN TCU Summer 2011

Published

Just wondering who all applied to TCU for their Accelerated BSN program that starts this summer. Has anyone heard anything yet??

@Jennyla72-Im not sure as to how competitive is in to get in. When I applied, I was in the process of taking 2 Religion courses. There is no need to apply right now. They will consider your application, regardless of when you apply, just as long as it is before the deadline (Nov. 15th). You can take the entrance at any point before the deadline. I took mine at El Centro College and I took mine twice because I didn't do well on A&P section. I didn't study for the HESI, so I couldn't tell you too much about a study guide. In my opinon, I don't think it is necessary to buy a study guide because the material was so basic and as long as you are pay attention in your A&P class, you should do well on that section. I have a healthcare background, a Masters in Crminology and a Bachelors in Psychology, but there have been others that has been accepted into the program with no healthcare background. Your stats seems pretty good so that should be no problem.......Let me know if you need anything else.

I would think you would be fine with a 3.6. That is what I had at the time of application, but I also had all of my prereqs complete. The competitiveness really depends on the number of people applying that year, but you definitely need to have over a 3.0 in either your nursing prereqs or your overall GPA to be considered. I agree with dedAKAted regarding the A2 exam... it's really basic and easy. I didn't study and still scored very high. I took it at TCU in October. I do not have a healthcare background, so it is possible to get accepted without one!

I stumbled upon this site again, found all of your posts and it put a BIG smile on my face. I am currently an ABT student at TCU, and will complete the program this August. All of the questions you have, all of the fears and uncertainties...it is all far too familiar. Let me just say one thing: you can do it! This program is the most intense 15 months I have ever experienced, however it has also been the most rewarding. There is a beautiful, bright light at the end of the tunnel, I promise!

Good luck to all of you! Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in quelching any of your fears. A few other ABTers and I would love to sit down with y'all and give you a few pointers on the program when you come to TCU for your orientation. Let us know if you are interested. Just reply to this post and I will send you my email. Again, good luck and God bless!

LWALL, I am very interested in sitting with you the day of the orientation! Thank you so much! :)

LWALL - Can you please send me your email? I have a few questions. I don't think I can send private messages yet so you can email me at [email protected]. Thank you.

LWALL - make sure you include the _ (underscore) in my email address.....Thx

WONDERFUL! Anyone interested can email me at [email protected]

Have a great day!

Will any of our classes be online?

@LWALL83: The only concern that I have right now is how soon we will be starting our hospital rotations. We will be spending one day per week in a hospital this summer for "Reflective Practice". At that point, most of us (especially those of us without healthcare experience) will know almost nothing about nursing. Is the purpose of those once/week hospital shifts to practice our dosage calculations in a real-life setting? I can't imagine that we'd already be caring for patients.....or will we??

@dedAKAted: The ABT schedule shows 2 online classes this Fall, 1 in the Spring, and 1 next summer. I'm not sure when that was updated last, though.

Also, I was wondering if most TCU ABT students already have jobs lined up by graduation.

Thanks!
