Accelerated BSN TCU Summer 2011

Published

Just wondering who all applied to TCU for their Accelerated BSN program that starts this summer. Has anyone heard anything yet??

have u rcvd your financial award package yet?

I rcvd my financial award package today.....It covers my tuition only but it will not cover much of my living expenses. Does anyone know if I can apply for a private loan to cover books and living expenses?

there's a wellsfargo private loan for health professional students called the MedCap Loan. You can borrow up to 120K for nursing and most students don't need a cosigner.

okay...thx. I will try that one.

I got in as well! Still waiting on my financial package. I can't wait to meet everyone. I am so excited and a little nervous.

@ Sophie2012- Have you looked on your my.tcu.edu.....I rcvd mine about a week ago. What is education background?......Can't wait to meet everyone either. I am just anxious and excited to get started...

@dedakated hi! i am a late admission, i just found out that i was admitted less than 2 weeks ago. let's just say it was lost in the mail, and i assumed i didn't get in until frances sent out that email to everyone wrongly asking for seat deposits. i called because i thought it was a mistake and that is how i found out i was accepted into the program. so, i am behind everyone else in applying for financial aid. i probably won't know anything for a few more weeks .

my background is that i have my master's from tcu, and worked at cook children's for 10 years. i was the director of cardiology and cariothoracic surgery when i left to stay home with my son several years ago. i went to tcc and finished my prerequisites, crossed my fingers, and applied.

i guess we'll all meet at the orientation. i am so excited so meet everyone. i've heard that the program is awesome but very intensive. :)

@Sophie2012- WOW!!! Well Congrats on finally getting in! TCU is so darn expensive but the financial aid they gave me covered my tuition. Now, I just have to figure out how to live. I also heard that the program is intense but very "doable" but I'm praying it won't be too intense since I am a LVN but I've heard that it goes by pretty fast.

Does anyone know if we will be in class all day 5 days a week???

As far as additional financial aid goes, I applied and was approved for the Wells Fargo MedCap loan, but then found out about the College Access Loan (thru TCU financial aid)..... the CAL is a Texas run loan that has a FIXED interest rate vs the Wells Fargo fluctuating rate. I was getting really nervous about having a private student loan because of the horror stories I have heard about interest rates going through the roof with no notice. I've decided to go with the CAL loan, fixed at 6%.

As far as the Acc. BSN schedule, we will be in class or clinicals for at least 8 hours per day. 4-5 days per week. We make our summer schedules during our orientation on May 2nd.

See y'all there!

@Shiner - Thank you for the info....I also rcvd the CAL Loan but I also applied for a small private loan to cover daily living expenses so I won't be stressed out about working and going to school. But the student loans they gave me covered my tuition.

Can't wait to meet you.

Hey there!

I'm trying to get in to the program in May 2012 and was wondering how tough it is to get accepted. I have a bachelors in finance, am taking a & P 1 right now, and will take a&p2 in the fall and micro in the spring. So when I apply, it will only take into account the two A&P's. I'm guessing I'll have about a 3.6 GPA at that time. Also, what do I need to be doing right now to ensure that I will get accepted? Do I need to apply for TCU right now? When do I need to take the entrance test, and where? Is there a good study guide for the test? I work full time for a financial consulting company and have no health background. Do you think I will be a good candidate? Please help!
