hello everyone!

i'm new here as well as in nursing. i hold b.s. in psychology and i want to do the accelerated bsn. the program that i'm seriously interested is offered by university of oklahoma (www.ounursing.com) here in san diego, where i live. is anyone has some experience with this school?

thank you,

I'm looking at the 2nd degree Accelerated BSN at San Marcos but it says it is a 29 months program?

My goodness.. how is it that some 2nd degree "accelerated" programs have a 12 month while others a 29 month program?

I've been researching for days now and this is a bit confusing :uhoh3:

I also have a 2.95 cumulative GPA, I wonder if I have any chance at all to do this. I think Azusa Pacific only accepts 3.0 minimum.

I've taken half of the pre-reqs but every school has different requeriments. Can I start a program and take the pre-reqs 'during' the program?

Help please... :bowingpur

I can answer only about Azusa, since I've been accepted for Fall 2010.

You can submit petition about your GPA and it should be fine. Pre-req have to be done before you start the program. Other schools require finishing all pre-req before even applying... Make an appointment with counselor/program coordinator and you'll find out everything.

best of luck!

P.S. I've changed my mind and I'll not be attending to Azusa.

I'm curious why you changed your mind about Azusa Pacific?

As for the OP: it is frustrating that every school has different prereq's.:o Some schools need all prereq's to be completed before application. Others need prereqs to be completed before you begin the program. I don't know of any school that will allow you to take your prereq's while actually in the program however. My understanding is that ABSN programs are very intense and there would be no time to take add'l classes (prereqs). Most recommend against even having a job while in the program.

Good Luck.

Yes, Azusa seems to be a more 'low' key school meaning I don't feel they would have as many applicants as other schools giving one a better chance?

Now on the other hand their EENAP program is supposed to be 3 years which is a very long time which is not too bad because it includes a MSN.

The bottom line is I can't afford more than 15 or 20 months. My problem is the prereqs, meaning adding an extra semester to start the program. More time...

Kaplan allows you to start the program and take the pre-reqs but then I hear that Kaplan only does the RN and cannot get a BSN there and none of their classes transfer (I could be wrong here**)

So far National University seem like a decent choice but that's also like 22 months (apparently) PLUS pre-reqs?

What schools am I missing?

I have heard that Kaplan isn't accredited and other schools won't accept any of the coures you take there. I was looking into the EENAP program as well but I haven't found much information on it. Have you looked into the new SDSU ABSN program? I've heard that SDSU is stepping in when OU leaves San Diego. I am trying to find out if anyone has gone to their presentations to get info.

Well let us know when you find more info about SDSU's new ABSN :) THis is the first time I've heard about it. And OU is leaving?!? Didn't know that either! Anyone know why?

I'm attending an info session for SDSU's ABSN program on Feb 10th... I'll let you know what I find out. Apparently they have info sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday at 4pm.

Its just become too much of a financial burden for OU to run it from OK. The director of the program out here used to work for SDSU, so it probably has a lot to do with them taking over, plus they were one of our sponsors for the program, so it kind of just makes sense for them to take over.

The email we all received said it basically all about $$.
