thank you,

THANK YOU for your answers

Liz520 how is your program? was it a waiting list? are the classes online or not? THANK YOU so much for any info you might be able to share

One of the great things is that the program is only 15 months and you get some good breaks at Christmas and during the summer, about 4 weeks each. The program has its strong points and weak points. They are a fairly new program in SD so they are still tightening up their organization so you have to go in knowing you HAVE to be flexible. The professors have been in the field for a long time so they do have a lot of experience to share and are very kind and willing to spend extra time for you if you need it. When I applied the waiting list was pretty short. I got in right when I wanted to but I understand the waiting list has grown. They have rolling admission so if you are even considering it I would apply asap. Good luck!

thanks

the strange thing is the program is not on thir site...and also if I want to apply to these 2 programs then I have to take more prereq as OU and Azusa have different ones. Did you have to take Biochem?

Liz520,

I've just been on the meeting with the director of this program, I've got my questions answered, but the only thing is still not clear: do you have to go to Master after you finish BSN? I've been told "we expect you to continue your education" i'm just a little bit confused...

Also what is your schedule (just briefly, M-F?) and what hospitals do you go for labs?

thank you!!

It is not mandatory to do the MSN portion. The MSN program isn’t even set up yet in San Diego but should very soon.

Our schedules change every semester. Basically, we are in class or in clinical rotations 4 days a week and “off” 3 days per week but we really need those days to study and do homework not to mention finding time to see family/friends, and decompress. =)

hi liz520,

i just emailed azusa to find more info on the 15mos bsn program i believe you are currently in....is this program the EENAP? that one sounded like it would be longer than 15mos. thanks! good luck to you-how exciting to be graduating in 6 mos! my best friend is an ICU nurse at kaiser and loves it.

Yep, it’s the EENAP Program! I believe they still have rolling admissions so I would encourage you to apply ASAP if you are considering the program. Thanks for your well wishes; glad to hear your friend is happy a Kaiser. I was there for L&D and really liked it myself.

so i have an appt on tuesday with the azusa to look over all of my transcripts...how are your clinicals going? the one thing that my ADN-RN friends have told me is that they liked getting the hands-on right away and they felt the BSN programs was more "book work". how are your clinicals going? i'm thinking that being accelerated it may be a little different. thanks so much for you input-i know you must be super busy with school!

My clinicals are good. At APU, you get in the hospital right away (4 weeks from when you start) and have clinicals until you graduate. We still have "bookwork", more than a program that only offers an AA b/c is a BSN school. Bigger degree, more work, its worth it!

Good luck with your interview!

i am in the ou program and will graduate! however, it is a strictly online program...you will have no instructors! imagine learning nursing by yourself...getting a quick degree is really not the way to go. try looking into other accelerated bsn programs in the san diego area that actually have instructors and classroom time. csu san marcos and azusa pacific university. the morale among university oklahoma students in san diego is extremely low and most of us are just looking forward to being done with it! please be careful when choosing this program...it is definitely flawed and just started fall 2007 and still trying to administratively iron out kinks. your course instructors are all from oklahoma and you have only email interaction from them. yes, you do have real nurses in san diego that you get for clinicals but that's not where the testing comes from...beware!!! nursing is too important to rush through an online program. i will however feel confident in passing the nclex but wish that i had done a traditional bsn program =) also, the program has lost it's stay at sharp cabrillo so we do not know where we will be anymore...no physical school and no instructors...great! what else will they throw at us...it's borderline unethical. good luck everyone!

hi, I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts, but i want to be a RN. I have started taking my science pre-requisites, and someone told me i could just go to an accellerated BSN program not the Associates... Do I still need to take the pre-requisites or is there a School in San Diego that just has the nursing program?

Thanks!
