Volunteer Hours??
Hello Wendy 79, As of now, the program isn't impacted and when we submit our applications we only show our nursing core prereq classes and teas exam scores. The program is made for people who received Bachelors in another area other than nursing. They don't require any resume or extra info. The point system to get in is based on the prereq courses, teas exam, and gpa. If I can juggle my time with studies and work, I may volunteer to expose myself more. Thank you, again for your ideas.

Volunteer Hours??
Thanks for your response Wendy79. It isn't a requirement to get into the accelerated program I am applying for. Their requirements are only prenursing courses and the teas exam. Out of curiousity, do you know if RNs get paid more if they have two bachelor degrees?

Volunteer Hours??
Hello, I am planning to switch careers from substitute teaching to nursing. When, I finish the nursing program, if I get accepted, I will not have any hospital experience. Is it a good idea to start volunteering now? Otherwise, I won't really have any medical background to put on my resume. Although, I volunteered a long time ago at a hospital's child care and occupational therapy department. I don't remember the dates, though....

So. Californians please help: Having a meltdown trying find a school!
CSU San Marcos has an accelerated BSN program that I am looking into, too. They don't have a waiting list, as of now, for the Spring 2010 program. It isn't impacted, according to the advisor. I believe they have two campuses. One is in San Marcos and the other is in Temecula. http://www2.csusm.edu/el/acceleratedbsn/index.php Good luck!!

Question to Californians
Wow, this scares me! l live in San Diego and am planning to enter an accelerated nursing program here. I finished my teaching credential, have been subbing for 2 years and having trouble trying getting into a district with my own classroom, especially with these budget cuts now. Now, I am worried that when I finish nursing, if I get accepted, that I will face the same problem. Hopefully, things will change in a few years. I am trying to avoid leaving San Diego, and figured that nursing is more stable because of its array of options. Other than stability, I am interested in the field, though. I come from a family of nurses. Hmm...

San Diego City College RN program
Hello, Crazychiq's advice is good. Once you get on the waitlist, study other prereq courses for a university if you want to head that route eventually. CSU San Marcos and National University also have nursing programs. Hang in there and good luck!!

Anyone take the TEAS exam, recently??? 4/2008
Hi Akoalaatemylion, Interesting name by the way, hehe :) I will be taking the TEAS test at San Marcos this November or December and was wondering what the test format was. Do you read and answer the questions on a computer and do they provide scratch paper? If you aren't using your ATI guide anymore are you willing to sell it? I am planning to apply for the Spring 2010 ABSN program. Did you get in already? Good luck in your studies!

CSU San Marcos ABSN program questions
Hi Code3EMT, I was wondering if you took your TEAS exam at the CSU San Marcos nursing campus? I noticed on the San Marcos website that you need an ATI username for the test day, but read that you used a scantron. So, I was wondering if you read the question on the computer, then fill in your answer on the scantron...or what the test format is? Thanks for your help. Good luck in the program!!

CSU San Marcos ABSN program questions
Hi Torasamu, I am applying for the Spring 2010 ABSN program, too, at CSU San Marcos. I have been emailing one of the advisors, Jajuan, with all my questions and he has been very helpful. He told me that the ABSN program is not impacted and that last year they were able to accept everyone who met the prerequisites. Hopefully, that stays the case and that we will get in! If you have other questions, go to the website and call of the advisors or email your questions. http://www2.csusm.edu/el/acceleratedbsn/contact_information.php I emailed my questions to [email protected] and Jajuan responded back to me. Did you buy the ATI TEAS study guide and from where? I'm trying to find one for a cheap/good price and am planning to take it in November or December. How about you? Good luck!!
