Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

I definitely would call and check. None of my transcripts were checked off on Albert or processed, even though they had them. It helps to pursue it a bit. (:

so i looked up campus housing....lowest cost for a single room is 7,823 per semester times 4 semesters=31,292. thats equal to 2086 a month. Can find apartments together for wayyyyy cheaper.

I would definitely want to get an apartment with people in the same program instead of dorming

When I talked to admissions, multiple people told me not to follow Albert since it is fairly a new system and it does not always accurately depict what your application status is. You should call or email, but I highly recommend emailing over calling :) Hope this helps.

Today might be another round!!!! GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!! :)

Thanks Annie.

I mean if you got accepted and your netid system saids application incomplete than I should not worry. I called and they said they received my stuff but transcripts have not reached my folder yet and that was two weeks ago. I called this past Friday and they told me that if I apply right before April 1 deadline I should be hearing from them in May.

@ Anderson11....did you email them? I applied regular admission too and haven't received anything. I also never got an ALBERT login! lol I hope we get accepted. That would honestly make my dreams come true!

Hey guys! My Albert account also still says incomplete even though I have been admitted. I would not worry too much at all about what that account says! GOOD LUCK to everyone who is still waiting to hear!!

gracelet9,

i wouldn't worry too much. i sent in my app 3/3/2011 and i didn't receive the confirmation email till the 30th of march and thats when they had processed my application. also my transcripts didn't get checked off till either thursday/friday. but i was in contact with lindsay and she contacted the undergrad dept to make sure they had received my app.

no news today...hopefully the next batch will come this week!

Hi all! I think I caught a cold this weekend after being so stressed/worried about not receiving an email last Friday. I called admissions today and spoke to a counselor who said they have not finished sending out decisions for those who applied by the priority deadline, they should be sending out more near the end of the week for us early birds! Keeping the hope alive! Congrats to all the others who got in!

Hey guys,

I've been following this thread for awhile and am finally inputting because I actually have news to share with people...so helloooo there! I applied by the priority deadline and got a littleeeee nervous because I hadn't heard back (and I saw a bunch of people heard on Friday...congrats to you all!!), so I called the admissions department and they actually gaave me the direct email of the admissions counselor that was going over my specific information. I emailed her directly and we've been in contact, and she was saying that anyone who applied AROUND the priority deadline shoulddddd get their decision soon! She also said not to freak out of you haven't gotten anything yet :) Like, she said she was out of town on a conference and that's why the applications she reviewed hadn't had a decision made yet..it didn't have anything to do with us necessarily getting in or not.

So, while that's KIND of annoying, it made me feel a little better in terms of when we would hear back...so if there are any people out there who applied before or right after the priority deadline, hopefully that will make you feel better too! Keep your fingersssss crossed!!

That is so frustrating! I hated getting the run around but dont worry in the end guys it will all be worth it. I cant wait until we all get to meet each other!

Also I called the Nursing office today to get more of a straight answer about school, she said Accelerated program starts September 19th. Still didnt get a straight answer on tuition but she estimated around $80,000. (This is what we were all thinking around.) Still ALOT though! I meant to ask if this included books or not but completely forgot.

Anyone have any idea how theyre paying for this? Or anyone whos rich who wants to pay for my tuition too Id really appreciate that. ;) My mom told me there is this website full of grants and scholarships. She couldnt remember the exact site but said shed text me later with it. Ill update you all when I get that. Hopefully that will help us with the cost!

EmEmJay,

Ya, that'd be great. All the grant and scholarship stuff would be clutch. I got my acceptance email Friday while I was at Coachella (I'm also from California) so didn't get the good news till early this morning. In a daze still haha, but unbelievably excited. Now comes the stress of planning for everything and paying for everything. Congratulations to everybody who got accepted. Gonna be one hell of new experience.

I found the site with all the Scholarships, I just googled Nursing Scholarships NYU. Unfortunately most of them already have submissions dates that have passed :crying2: I was also looking at the government scholarships that requires you to serve a minimum of 2 years at low income shortage medical facility. Does anyone know if we can choose which state to live in, or do they just assign you a place and you must move there. I can't seem to find that anywhere...I am still waiting to hear back from NYU, but just wanted to research possible scholarships
