Does anybody attend the Accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.
^^^ Hey how are you doing?? Seton hall accelerated program is pretty expensive!! Seton Hall accelerated program will cost you about 58k by the time your done. NJCU program is about 27k for the 12 months. ECC is pretty cheap if you go to the ADN way your not going to spend no more than $5,000.00. Just to let you know ECC does have an entrance test to get in.
I looked at the RN program at ECC and I have all of the credits except for 27. I graduated year ago from college and I did all of the prereqs. for other BSN programs. I know that the net test is needed. I think I should be able to get in. If I do get in I was told that I could do a school nurse at the same time. That would work for me because I have more than half of the credits needed. I also did one year of a 2 year nursing program so I have most of the skills. I am applying to NJCU. I am signed up for the HESSI exam in 3 weeks. My only issue is that it seems a lot more intense then the 2 year BSN. I guess it depends on the info I get at NJCU tomorrow night. I am sure I can pass successfully through the RN program with no stress but I am not sure about the stress of the one year BSN program? Seems very intense. I am hoping that I can go into the 4 year program and do it in two years. I want to ask the question tomorrow but I do not want to give them any ideas of my concern about doing well in the program because of its intensity. So I will see if I get in and then take it from there. Thanks,
Hi JerseyGuy,
I would like more information on the unemployment option for taking prereqs for nursing programs. I'm currently applying to UNJCU BSN Accelerated program and am receiving unemployment from New York State. Does the fee waiver only work for people laid off working in the state of new jersey. FYI I am NJ resident, just worked in the city. I'm not sure if there's a way to write you directly, but I couldn't figure it out so posting to thread. Thanks!
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me out. I sent an e-mail to Angi but I did not hear back. It has been a week. I wanted to know about the following questions.
1-Is anything under a C+ considered failing. Also, does a person get another chance to pass?
2-How many people are accepted as opposed to how many seats are available?
3-Are clinicals factored into grades?
4-If a person does not get into the accelerated program, are they able to enter the traditional nursing program and graduate in two years?
Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi NewlifeinNJ,
Don't worry...you have the CORRECT book! I just received my copy in the mail from Amazon.com and am registering for the test. Are you applying to NJCU? If so, I went to the Open House last week and Dr. Kleinman gave a bit of guidance regarding the HESI. A 80% completion score is needed for admission. The sections that NJCU uses on the HESI are English, Math, Sciences (Biology and Chemistry)...although she stated that they don't pay attention to the Chemistry score. I hope that was helpful. Good luck!!!!

Hi Oldfashionedlove,
I am in the NJCU acclereated program and I'm going to try to answer some of your questions
1. Anything under a C is consider failing and if you fail a class you get one more chance to repeat it.
2. I believe for my class there were 50 seat available and they accepted 50 people out of well over 100 applicants. So it is kind of competitive.
3. Clinicals are graded as Pass or Fail so clinical grades are not averaged into your final grade.
4. At the NJCU campus in Jersey City I don't think there is a traditonal 2 year program only a RN to BSN and an acclerated but I am not sure about the school in south Jersey.
Hope this helps!
By the way, which campus are you applying to?
I thanks. I e-mailed the chair (she seems nice) I spoke to her several months ago. Just to make sure anything under a C or C+ (75) is failing?? I am applying to Jersey City-kinda freaking out because I really want to get in. I am older too so I have not taken 23 credits in 18 years. I imagine it is intense. Is it doable for you? What semester are you in? Have you spoken to any graduates of the program? Thanks

:redbeatheHi, I am so glad you posted. I am looking to apply the end of this month to the program. I am wondering if a C is considered failing in the program? Also, I think this program and ECC is my last effort in nursing. I see that there are something like 19-21 credits a semester. I did very good in college but that was 18 years ago. I graduated dobule major and got a 3.12. I received all B's in my prerequisites. I am just wondering if you could provide me with info that is considered failing. etc. I am getting older and so learning seems much harder at my age. I would appreciate the advise. I am applying for the location in Jersey City. The chairperson seems very nice and the assistant is helpful. Also, if someone does not get into the program did they advise you of the availability to go into the tradiional program with less time than the 4 years since I have a degree already. What advise are you able to give regarding their statement of how we feel healthcare will be for the elderly population. Thanks so much! Any assistance is greatly appreciated.:heartbeat
