accelerated bsn program at njcu in jersey city, nj

Published

Does anybody attend the Accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Were there a lot of people at the meeting? Kinda worried there is going to be a ton of applicants!

Hi oldfashionedlove,

Yes, there were quite a few people at the Open House. I was in the first session and I would estimate there were about 40-50 people at the first session. Probably about 20-30 people at the second session...maybe more, I didn't stick around too long after the session completed. Don't worry, you're chances are just as good as any other students as far as getting in :) Just make sure that you get all of your transcripts and other application material in ASAP. Dr. Kleinman stressed the importance of getting your materials in and following the instructions in the fasttrack info packet.

Hi,

I guess I am one applicant less for the school. I looked at the program and decided it was too intense for me. I am looking into state colleges/universities in their traditional 4 year program to see if the program can be worked in two years . I want to make sure I can get through the program without having a breakdown so I think this is my best route. Or go to ECC. I got into ECC and since I did all the prereqs for the accelerated programs I could basicall do it in under 1 year and look at schools to see if I can do a certificate at the same time. Not exactly what I wanted to do but at least I feel confident that I will be successful.

I am thinking about applying to NJCU, but I am startng my pre req's at Morris County in May. Does anyone know the dates of the Hesi? Can it be taken at anytime? What are the app deadlines for the accel prog Jersey City? I imagine I need to complete Chem, A&P 1&2 at the very least before taking the Hesi?

Thanks for your help in advance!

The HESI has locations proctoring the test almost every day of the week. But the first step is to apply to the program, then they will give you the information you need to take the test. It definitely helps to have finished the pre-reqs before taking the test. You can start studying now though if you wish. Grab a study guide (check to see if they have a copy at your local library).

This year's deadlines are Feb 15, 2009 for the May cohort in Wall and May 1, 2009 for the September cohort in Jersey City. I'm sure the deadlines will be similar for next year's program.

You can check out http://web.njcu.edu/sites/profstudies/nursing/Content/bachelor_of_science_in_nursing_fasttrack_bsn.asp for more information. That info is for this year's program. I'm sure they will update as needed.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the info! I will pick up a book and just start reviewing little by little.. I still have some time... basically until next may b/c I havent started any pre-req's yet..

For those who got accepted last year - what were your HESI scores?

92. The test is relatively easy. Just study! There's a lot of simple stuff that you may have forgotten over time.

I got a 90 overall - and my lowest was 80% in one section. Do you think this is competitive enough? It was my 1st try and was planning not to re-take.

congratulations everyone that got in. i am currently in the program and will be graduating in august this year. it's a nice program.it's intense but it can be done. good luck to all.

Miralpn,

Would you mind posting your HESI score or PM me if you would like? Thanks!!!

my hesi score was (last year) 90%. goodluck
