I'm trying to find a place that will rank the top programs that allow a person to get a BSN and then work into an NP in the fastest amount of time yet still provide a great education and experience. I currently have a degree in psychology and neuroscience. I would like to complete an accelerated nursing program in either Boston, Philadelphia or San Francisco. I'm looking for as much advice as possible. I know I want an NP as the end result but getting there is still a bit foggy. I'm 28 years old with a degree in psych and neuroscience. I'm a really hard worker. I currently work 50+ hours a week in a hospital in research and take classes on the side. I love patients and I love academia. I need resources so I can better understand this process. I would like to further my education so I can continue to advance my career in psychiatry. Thanks!!!
End result: I want to have my own patients, be able to prescribe and work in an academic hospital with the ability to have as much patient interaction as possible but also still have the opportunity to do research and potentially teach.
What's my best bet?

Hi there, I know you mentioned specific locales (i.e. S.F., Boston, Philly) but University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) also has an accelerated BSN to NP program. University of Pennsylvania is another good one. Sorry, can't think of any more at the moment. I too love psychiatry and want to continue on via grad school.
Your accomplishments are very impressive--I'm certain you will continue to excel no matter where you decide to go!

My sister has a BS in Biology and an MS in Exercise Physiology. She got into the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions Entry Level MSN/NP program. She will be graduating in May with her MSN and will be an Adult Nurse Practitioner. I believe it's a 3 year program. She's 30 right now.
So, if you're looking in the Boston area, check out MassGen

There are a few options that are available in the Boston area. I am actually looking to take the NP track. I have an undergraduate degree in PTA/EP and a MBA. I am looking at a few Bridge Options. Some which only have a ADN to NP program. Some have BSN to NP program. Rivier College, BC, MGH, UNH.

If you're trying to get achieve NP degree in the shortest time possible, I would suggest looking into entry level/ direct entry programs. UCSF's MEPN is a 3 year and has various specialties. Another is Samuel Merritt University, which is also in the Bay Area--Oakland. It offers an ABSN and also ELMSN with FNP and Case management as master's specialties The NP track is 10 semesters roughly 3 years and a semester. Good luck!
