Accelerated BSN/MSN at USA

Published

Greetings to all the Alabama Nurses!

Can anyone comment on the accelerated nursing programs at the University of South Alabama? I am very interested in pursuing this course of study however I am having a difficult time finding anyone who has had any experience with the school or the programs.

Also I'd be very grateful if you would share your thoughts on accelerated/second degree programs, in general.

Your help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I sent you a PM

I'm a proud USA graduate (for my Physical Therapy degree) and recommend the school easily.

Its a great nursing program. I'm in the regular BSN not accelerated. Most of the people in the acc. seem to like it. It is just fast and furious with very short breaks between semesters.

I'm very grateful for your posts - thank you!

I send you a 'nother one!

John

I am looking at doing clinicals at USA. But am going to try for Johns Hopkins first.

but have heard good things about USA.

I am currently in the USA nursing program BSN. It is wonderful, hard but good. All the instructors go out of their way to help you in any way they can. I graduate in July and feel secure that I know what I need.

My greatest problem with USA is not grades (I keep a 101--105 overall average). But insurance. I am on COBRA at the moment. It will run out in a few months.

USA requires that you have insurance to do clinicals. I understand this. However, I am unable to get health insurance as a former burn patient (and also as a Lyme patient). USA does have a student health insurance plan. But I have wondered if they consider that good enough?? If it isnt I may not be able to do clinicals anywhere! Through no fault of my own.

I cant get health insurance unless I am on a group plan. I cant get on a group plan until I am employed, and I cant get employed until I finish clinicals!!!

call the usa insurance people. They can answer your questions. If you don't have the number go to http://www.usouthal.edu and you should be able to find info on the insurance plan.

I'm in my first semester at USA but I'm in the regular program and not accelerated...timing didn't work out as I had hoped, and to be honest I'm glad, because it is VERY challenging and I don't know if I could hack it in the accelerated...but if you can do it then I say go for it! Best of luck!

That insurance is just fine. I have a friend that has completed most of the nursing curriculum with that insurance.
