Hi,
I got accepted into EENAP program at azusa-san diego campus for summer 2009 semester. Does anyone has an idea of how the program is, and what are the hospitals where they have the clinics? I am relocating to san diego and I don't have any idea of what would be a good place to rent a apartment. I am not a big fan of traffic and driving, so I am looking for anything which will be commute wise the best choice. How I wish, I could live in walking distance of everything:mad:.........I know, it is a impossible dream.
Please guys, if you know just know about anything, do let me know. Thanks!!!!!!!!
Hi Renee,
I am also trying to get into the research class at Mesa. I attended class today and am #3 on the wait list. What did you think of the class? I also got an email about the online class that will be offered at APU. I'm glad that there is an alternative just in case. Although, it would be nice to take this semester off due to planning my wedding but I'm sure there will be more than enough work to be done come January so its probably best to get the research class done now. My name is Katie so if you hear my name in class on Thursday come find me!
hi allicat23 ,
i am in the same status as you are, but i am on the waiting list as well. so, try to do the same, and have your hope to star earlier. i do not think that you should think about your age. this is an issue, but it is so relative, for example, compared with different level of iqs the students who would be with you in your cohort. i had thought also that with an increasing age i need to spend more time for memorization. but, being in college during several previous years, undergrad and grad programs, i found out that my ability to remember sometimes better, or the same compared with younger students. yes, i have spent time more than they did to study, but not because i need it, because i probably like to use more time to read a larger volume of literature. so, i do my best, and i’ll be very good, i believe!
also, i believe, eenap asuza is a very good school. i have had experience and noted that all faculty and administrative officials in azusa are very efficient with their replies. they have been always there for you and helpful.
Hi everyone,
In regards to the waiting list, did anyone ask about what their standing is? I am eager to ask, however, I don't know if that's a legitimate question to ask (I'm sure they have more important things to worry about). I was accepted for Spring 2012 but am waitlisted for Fall 2011 (and I'm really really hoping for Fall 2011!)
Also, what is this about the research course being offered at APU? I didn't receive any notification about this and I would love to learn more about it.
This thread is very helpful, so thank you all for sharing the info!
PS. I'm just going to throw out another question: Tuition! Financial aid? Scholarships? How are we all financially preparing for the program? I'm already anticipating loans, but I'm trying my best to save/gather funds now before the programs begins.
Yay! All logistics aside, I'm super excited to start this journey!
Hey Everyone-
I was also accepted to the Spring 2012 session. I am done with all pre-reqs this December (I still need the research class though). I am also on the wait list. When I asked about my position, I wasn't given a number or position. I was just told that I am still on the list and there were no openings for other Cohorts. =( I really want to start in 2011 as well. I don't want to wait till 2012, but I will.
Hi All,I was accepted into the SD EENAP program but not until Summer 2012! Crazy long waiting period to start! Am thinking about starting sooner elsewhere but....
I tried OU's prgram but found it to be very disorganized....good thing I dropped because I heard that their graduating students don't have a very good rep and are having a tough time getting work.
Is Azusa any more organized or supportive?
I'm 50 yrs old, no kids or hubby to worry about and money isn't an issue....but from what I've read it's REALLY tough schedule.
I don't learn as easily as I did when I was 20-30 yrs old. I have to read everything 3 times! (grin...sad but true)
So, (to anyone in the program): if you don't mind, please tell me what you think. Is is worth waiting 2 yrs for?
PS: has it gotten any better out there as far as jobs go? Where do you do your clinicals?
I am currently enrolled in the program and am almost finished with the first semster. It is a great program, but a lot of work. Many of us haven't been in school for a number of years, so don't worry about that. If you have the desire and put in the effort you will do just fine. The faculty are more than willing to work with you and put in a lot of effort to make sure you succeed. They are very supportive. As with any program, there is always some bumps in the road and some disorganization. However, I think if you are flexible than it is not a problem.
The site of clinical rotations vary each semester. Right now, some are at alvarado and some at kaiser. Although you start off quickly, I feel I learn so much in the clinical setting and it's something I look forward to each week.
Good luck in your decision. I hoped this helped a little!
While waiting until I start the program, I've been looking into various ways to help cover tuition.
Can anyone share their situation w/ financial aid & tuition? I want to make productive use of my time (saving & applying for scholarships) until I have to start the program. I would love any tips/strategies that you might want to share! =)
It seems as though this is a pretty current thread and people have been replying very recently, so I wanted to get in some questions and hopefully some of you will have time to answer!
I've been taking prereqs this past year to apply to the entry level masters in nursing program at AZUSA. I have no preference on which campus I get into, since whichever one I attend, it will be a big move for me (I'll be moving from the bay area). I have a couple questions for people who have already been accepted into the program since I don't know anyone personally who is in it or has graduated from it. So if you have time, feel free to reply on this thread or send me a personal email! [email protected]
Some background info on me: got my BS in molecular biology, but my undergrad GPA was very low (2.87). I'm trying to offset the low college gpa with great grades in my prereqs! So far I've completed most of the prereqs with a 4.0, so I know that will at least boost me up a little. But the low undergrad GPA still scares me, and I want to make sure I do whatever I can to help make me a more competitive applicant. I always wanted to be in the healthcare field, which is why I got a degree in bio. Now, a couple years after graduating from college, I'm realizing that I want to be a nurse practitioner. I currently work at an optometry office, so I'm somewhat familiar with a healthcare setting and working with patients (although I know how different an eye doctors office and hospital is). Sooo with that said, now knowing where I'm coming from, here are my questions:
-what did you get your BS/BA in? what was your undergrad GPA?
-what was your gpa in prereqs?
-what kind of volunteer/job experience did you have that made you stand out from other applicants?
-when did you apply/when did you get an interview/when are you scheduled to start the program?
-if you're in it already, what are some likes/dislikes you have? what about the program did you wish someone had told you beforehand?
-how are you financing school? loans, scholarships?
-any advice for someone like me who is almost done with prereqs and will be trying to apply within this year?
I seriously appreciate any help I can get! If you're in the program already, I'm sure you're suuuper busy. But if you have any time, feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected]. THANK YOU!!!

Hi Elis
Please email me at [email protected]. Then I'll send my phone number and we can connect-up. BTW: What is the name of the new program if not EENAP/SCAN?
