ACC Fall 2019 Applicants

Hi all!

I have applied to start Austin Community College's program in Fall 2019. The deadline is tomorrow and the info given is minimal! After contacting them, it seems like we may not hear if we're accepted up til May. And the first round of petitions have already been sent out but they were for re-applicants (im a new applicant).

I don't understand why we have to wait so long after the application deadline! And apparently the second round of petitions are not going out until late January!

Anyone have more clarity than me??

I don't have any clarification, but I am shocked that we won't find out until MONTHS after the deadline. They should tell us that at the time of application.

I spoke with the nursing advisor yesterday and the first round of petitions for Nursing Skills went out to people that applied in the beginning of the application period, not just reapplicants. I didn't realize until too late that I could have taken the HESI while I was finishing my last two pre-reqs, else I would have taken it and applied at the beginning of the application period.

But you are correct, while we could get petitions late Jan. or Feb, we won't actually know if we are accepted into the program until later. But we can still take Skills while we wait to hear as long as we get a petition!

Maybe it takes so long because you have to pass Skills in order to be accepted into the program?! And we have to do background checks, drug screenings and TB tests prior to acceptance as well.

I got a petition a few days ago. An advisor said that their goal is to get everyone in the class and it's no indication of your acceptance to the program. They're sending out rounds of petitions as they have space. They also don't give you an option of which class/campus/time. The petition email assigns one. Thankfully, the one I got works for me. Good luck, and don't worry about the petition thing, they're doing it in order of applications it sounds like!

I applied mid-November and yes, first application. Like i said, they're filling spots as they go and it doesn't have anything to do with qualifications.

yep i know someone else who applied beginning of december who hasn't gotten petition either. The admissions lady i talked to acted like it wasn't a big deal and told me point blank it had nothing to do with getting accepted or not (because I emailed her freaking out)...Just timing. I will say though to check your email frequently because you may lose your spot if you don't register soon after you get a petition email.

Anyone still waiting on a petition for summer rnsg 1105? I received the original petition but classes were full by the time I could register. They say beginning of April to send petitions for summer. Anyone hear anything different? Thanks!

Yes I received an email earlier this week to register for summer ?
