Absn 2012 (njcu, shu, pace, etc)

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just wanted to start a topic for applicants of 2012. I've been going through forums trying to find an applicant in my situation, but I have not been successful so far. I figured by starting my own topic, I can get some feedback. :)

In a quick summary here's my status:

Completed applications so far: NJCU, SHU (Georgian Court), PACE Univerisity

BS Biology 2009 GPA 3.3

Medical Assisting Diploma 2011 GPA 4.0 (Certified as well; now working as CMA w/ lots of clinical experience already)

HESI Score 88, Class avg 83

We should be hearing decisions for the Wall cohort within 3 weeks and it's killing me, so I definitely feel for you all who have to wait until June or July. Good luck hang in there!

Hi!! I also applied the NJCU program at Wall and my nerves are killing me! Graduated psych last May with a 3.1 gpa have all prereqs but when I took the HESI I only got a 80.33 so I just made the cut =/ did great on all sections expect for a&p and bio.... hoping for the best thou!! this has been the longest month of my life!!! ahhhh goodluck to everyone who applied =)

It really has been a long month! You're not alone with your edgy nerves! The wait is almost over... Hope it's good news for us all. Please post if you hear anything and I will do the same.

Ps rarani, do you have any files in your file manager yet?

Yes I have... I got an email about a month ago saying I can now access file manager and it gave me my login info. There is only one file uploaded so far which is a checklist of all things I needed to complete my application, with a check on the side indicating what they have received. That is strange you haven't gotten anything yet... maybe you should email the dept?

I got the e-mail March 5th but when I log in it says "this folder is empty"... I will e-mail Monday.

Hey guy, I too applied to njcu at the jc campus. I take the hesi exam tomorrow may 26. I wondering what should I expect from the exam - how long did it take to complete, about how many question are in each section, can a calculator be use or is one provided on the computer, what should I expect from bio and ap section and if anyone used the study guide book, was it helpfully? If someone could reply before 4pm tomorrow, it would be greatly appreciated and it would really help calm my test taking nerves. =) I haven't taken a test since last May when I graduated with a ba from Cmsv in riverdale, ny. I was a nursing major, but had to switch to liberal arts with a minor in psy and bio 3.03 gpa. Also, has anyone received access to the file management system yet? Thanks for the help and good luck to you all. =)

they allow you 4 hours for the exam but i finished mine around 2.. depends how fast of a test taker you are. you are not allowed to bring anything in the testing center besides your id and there is a calculator on the computer. I used the study guide but not as much as I should of for the a&p and bio sections so I would focus on studying for those sections. Goodluck!

Wall Cohort applicants!!! Samantha e-mailed me and said decisions have already been made! I got nothing in the mail today.... What about you guys?! I e-mailed her back and asked if decision letters were mailed out- will post her response! Good luck all we should know any day now.

I just checked my mail and had a skinny envelope but it was just confirming my application. I don't get my mail until 4 - has your mail already come today? I wish they would just put it in our file manager.

Exciting - I've got my fingers and toes crossed for us all.

I know its nerve-racking but the test is not that bad. The biology and A&P were by far the hardest for me. I would just study those sections. You will have more than enough time to take the test. I took my time with every question and I still had an hour and a half to spare. Eat a good meal beforehand because they don't let you bring in anything - not even water. You can leave for the bathroom. You can also put a drink in your locker (non-alcoholic:) and take a break from the test to have a drink if need be. GOOD LUCK AND DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE!

My mail comes around 12. Nothing. My file manager lacks the checklist you guys have and I did not receive a letter in the mail confirming that my app. was received either. I'm trying not to freak out!
