I just wanted to start a topic for applicants of 2012. I've been going through forums trying to find an applicant in my situation, but I have not been successful so far. I figured by starting my own topic, I can get some feedback. :)
In a quick summary here's my status:
Completed applications so far: NJCU, SHU (Georgian Court), PACE Univerisity
BS Biology 2009 GPA 3.3
Medical Assisting Diploma 2011 GPA 4.0 (Certified as well; now working as CMA w/ lots of clinical experience already)
HESI Score 88, Class avg 83

I plan to apply for the May 2014 Wall cohort too!! This program seems like such a great fit for me as well. I still have to complete my pre-reqs, but I intend to by the end of the year. I've been researching this website for any information from experienced njcu acc. BSN students religiously! So, I'd also really appreciate any tips/information!
Question for anyone who is in the NJCU ABSN or anyone who has graduated from NJCU ABSN. Can anyone give me an estimate for how much the malpractice insurance costs. I am getting everything together for the 2013-2014 program and need to know on top of tuiton .. how much else do I need to factor in?
We are actually considered the 2013 Cohort based on our graduation yr but thx for asking! Graduation was 8/6/13 and boy are we all glad it's over! A lot of tedious work at hand but it was all worth it! At least 5 of us who I know have taken the NCLEX-RN already have passed! (I am currently studying, hoping to schedule it sometime next month). The pros/cons are really what you make of it. I think that in any clinical setting from any nursing school, you need to put yourself in it, get messy, make mistakes, and learn! An accelerated program really does has its benefits bc it prepares u for a fast-paced setting! You will learn how to study quickly but effectively...how to work well under pressure, and how to learn a lot in a short amount of time! However, there are stigmas with nurses and nursing students who come from accelerated programs, but don't let them stop you. We are a new pedigree of nurses I'd like to think. :) Being that it's already Oct, how do you like it so far?

Good luck JC Cohort! Get ready to work your asses off and fall in love with nursing :). Stay organized and take care of yourselves and you will be fine!
