Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just wanted to start a topic for applicants of 2012. I've been going through forums trying to find an applicant in my situation, but I have not been successful so far. I figured by starting my own topic, I can get some feedback. :)

In a quick summary here's my status:

Completed applications so far: NJCU, SHU (Georgian Court), PACE Univerisity

BS Biology 2009 GPA 3.3

Medical Assisting Diploma 2011 GPA 4.0 (Certified as well; now working as CMA w/ lots of clinical experience already)

HESI Score 88, Class avg 83

Hi guys!! :) I just got accepted off the wait list!!!! I'm so excited to meet everyone.

I just met with Ms. ******* today and she gave me an overview of things.

I'm still a little confused at what I am supposed to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

@Ash754 - Did you hear from them??? I hope you get in! ::fingers crossed::

That is fantastic news yenzies. Thank you for the update. What specifically are you confused about?

1. get finances in order

2. order books and uniforms (before ordering uniforms ask if you can try samples)

3. Get physical and etc. from doctors'.

4. bring $100 the first day of class to pay for parking (its for the semester. Lot #3. There is another lot but its more $. I think $4 per day). You should also park in lot#3 the first day of school unless you find street parking.

5. complete background check + purchase

I posted the obvious but please let us know if you have any other questions. Congratulations again!

Welcome, welcome!

As for purchasing your uniform, jot down the style numbers and search for the Adar brand elsewhere. For the price of 1 set from Adar themselves, I was able to get almost 3 (pretty much). Same for the nursing kit! Don't be afraid to call the companies either for sizes and colors if you do plan to purchase elsewhere. Good luck! See you next week!

Good luck JC Cohort! Get ready to work your asses off and fall in love with nursing :). Stay organized and take care of yourselves and you will be fine!

hey everyone I was just wondering if those of you who are in the program right now could speak on it? How its going, ect.

Looking to apply for the May 2014 Wall cohort! Any advice/comments about the program from people who are there now? This school is looking like the best option for me, lets hope I can get in! :nailbiting:

I plan to apply for the May 2014 Wall cohort too!! This program seems like such a great fit for me as well. I still have to complete my pre-reqs, but I intend to by the end of the year. I've been researching this website for any information from experienced njcu acc. BSN students religiously! So, I'd also really appreciate any tips/information!

Question for anyone who is in the NJCU ABSN or anyone who has graduated from NJCU ABSN. Can anyone give me an estimate for how much the costs. I am getting everything together for the 2013-2014 program and need to know on top of tuiton .. how much else do I need to factor in?

Malpractice insurance is about $35. You can buy older versions of the books for pretty much all classes (with the exception of Fundamentals- she prefers the new edition).

to the 2012 cohort: how is it going? how do you like it? pros/cons? it would be much appreciated! i am starting this fall at the jc cohort

We are actually considered the 2013 Cohort based on our graduation yr :D but thx for asking! Graduation was 8/6/13 and boy are we all glad it's over! A lot of tedious work at hand but it was all worth it! At least 5 of us who I know have taken the NCLEX-RN already have passed! (I am currently studying, hoping to schedule it sometime next month). The pros/cons are really what you make of it. I think that in any clinical setting from any nursing school, you need to put yourself in it, get messy, make mistakes, and learn! An accelerated program really does has its benefits bc it prepares u for a fast-paced setting! You will learn how to study quickly but effectively...how to work well under pressure, and how to learn a lot in a short amount of time! However, there are stigmas with nurses and nursing students who come from accelerated programs, but don't let them stop you. We are a new pedigree of nurses I'd like to think. :) Being that it's already Oct, how do you like it so far?

Anyone looking to apply for 2014 take the HESI yet? If you did, what was it like..easier/harder than expected?
