Hi All!
I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??
Hey tigers, what's up? Question, once we get in :) , anyone know what a typical day would look like? I know it will vary semester to semester based on when clinicals are, but I'm trying to figure out hypothetical pre school scenarios right now for my daughter. Any idea what time round about we'd need to be on campus or at clinical location? Any thoughts ideas would be appreciated. I'm planning on asking this question at Duke Days this week of course but would love some insight before then if possible. As always, thanks!
Rubypie - I found this schedule online but, it's a little outdated:

I'm sure that your question will come up at Duke Days, though!
My thoughts on the blind interview is that there is simply too much information and too many applicants to expect the interviewers to be super familiar with everything in our file. Chances are, they may be glancing at it as we talk... and if anything stands out- it may be addressed. Or it's possible that items in the folder have already been reviewed and "scored" or noted.
Maybe I'm alone on this- but I think 25-30 minutes is ample time to recap the highlights of Why Nursing and Why Duke. I've been working on distilling my personal statement into a tight story- beginning middle and end.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What she actually told me was that no one had even seen my file yet because I was an automatic interview (People that met a certain GPA and GRE were automatically invited to interview). I'm pretty sure most of us were automatic interviews, right? On the other hand, the applicants that were not automatic HAVE had their files reviewed.
I suppose it would have been more accurate for me to say that the admission's committee would not be sitting down to review the files in order to make decisions until after all the interviews are complete.
As far as interviews, I don't know whether or not the faculty members conducting them are even on the admissions committee. All that I do know is that I was told the interviewers are conducting blind interviews and therefore will not have reviewed the files. They should have nothing but our name, phone number, list of questions and an interview evaluation to fill out.
I hope this helps.
