  1. I'm here, and I'm in! Very exciting stuff. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted, good luck to those waitlisted! Sounds like the waitlist thing will be no problem in the end. NCGator- wooo hooo! What a great way to come back from FL. See you tomorrow night in lab and we can high five then!
  2. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! Just had to vent. We will find out soon enough right? Anyone else having major trouble getting Financial Aid to call you back? The main rep was not in today but last week didn't get back to me. I'm sure they are slammed... but I just want to make sure my stuff was received... Guess I'll try again tomorrow.
  3. Feb 15th!!
  4. Okay, one more night of me looking at this thread, then that's it! It's a compulsion! Um, I am guessing they will take polaroids to have them in our file after interview so when they are talking about us later for decisions they can look at the photo to remember who is who. I used to be in show biz and in cattle call auditions they would take a polaroid, even if we did bring headshots with us. They want to remember what we looked like on that day.
  5. Have officially made myself so uptight, considering not looking at this thread until AFTER the interview! Thanks for all the info, encouragement, speculation, and support! I'll post on Friday after it's all over I think!
  6. I can offer this: at the info session they indicated that clinical/healthcare prior experience wasn't that big of a deal. Duke prides themselves on diversity in their students, ie, lots of different backgrounds, not necessarily in healthcare. The current ABSN students told us that the personal statement and interview and personal references were big factors. They really made it sound like those were the biggies rather than the GPA and other technical aspects. Sounds insane, but really they made it sound like it comes down to passion, and in nursing, I can see why they want that quality in their students.
  7. No prob kebunt, I think maybe she told you that before they threw out the GRE! So Carolina didn't know and neither did nice lady at the time!
  8. Quoting myself here in regard to info I got from the nice lady back in Dec about automatic interview criteria. From what she said it was SOLELY based on GPA.
  9. Thank you so much for the info, I'm sure you did great, we are our own worst critic! Great to know they DO read the statement. Glad I didn't slave over that thing for nothing.
  10. Yes! I cannot wait to hear how the phone interviews went for everyone!!
  11. Thanks AG! 7 am it is then! Oh boy...
  12. Hey tigers, what's up? Question, once we get in :) , anyone know what a typical day would look like? I know it will vary semester to semester based on when clinicals are, but I'm trying to figure out hypothetical pre school scenarios right now for my daughter. Any idea what time round about we'd need to be on campus or at clinical location? Any thoughts ideas would be appreciated. I'm planning on asking this question at Duke Days this week of course but would love some insight before then if possible. As always, thanks!
  13. Okay, so then they will read our personal statement later? This is weird to me. I just don't exactly understand or agree with this... I don't like being repetitive. Wasn't the application supposed to let them know who we are? And then the interview is to get a better handle on us? And also, shouldn't them reading personal statement allow them to ask follow up questions? If they don't read it FIRST, how can this be achieved? I am not happy about this. My background is so all over the place, to try to explain it all to them in 30 minutes has me in a tizzy right now. Yuck! Sorry to be negative but sigh, I hope you'll understand...
  14. AG, sounds like your work is challenging and surely inspiring. Love the movie Milk, however heartbreaking it was to watch. Hope to get to meet you at Duke Days on the 22nd! I see a variety of patients in the ER in Cary, but not too many children either. I honestly dread that aspect because after having one of my own, it's painful to be near sick children, it just hurts me thinking of my own child being in pain like that. I hear it gets easier though being exposed during clinicals. Like anything, you get over your hangups and fears with time and experience. But anyway, just wanted to say good on you if that is the field you choose, it takes a special kind of person to be a pediatric nurse! :redbeathe
  15. Abbie and Twois, I'm taking A and P II and Micro this semester. Sad to go back to the work/school routine starting Tues but it's one step closer to all my pre reqs being done! Glad to hear that Micro is interesting, this is encouraging! I just ordered my book off Amazon yesterday so look forward to getting aquainted with it. Abbie I also spend Friday nights at the ER volunteering! I'm in the back ER at Wake Med Cary. Where do you volunteer? Didn't get my new interview jacket as planned this weekend. But hair is officially "did"!
