About LPN NCLEX state boards

I was wondering how much the nclex test was in NJ 2006. I will be graduating this July from LPN school in and the teachers are still not sure how much it is going to be. If you could tell me around how much and when you needed it by..for ex. you signed up on such and such date to reserve a specific date and place to take the boards in NJ do you need the money then or when you go to take it? and how early can you sign up?
also what was the majority of the test for the people who took it last year 2006 and how did you study for it. I purchased Saunders flash cards for LPN NCLEX review did anyone ever use these>? I am very nervous because I am not good at taking tests. Please if you could let me know about everything I've mentioned in this forum it would really help me out alot. I appreciate you time. I think that you should call your state board of nursing for the price for taking NCLEX. Here in New York, we paid $135 for the processing fee and another $200 to take the exam, itself. In most cases, the school has to send the information to the state BON that you have satisfactorily passed all of the coursework involved in your school; usually, that goes through the registrar's office. It should be done within a few weeks after you graduate. That is what would take up some of the time, waiting for them. Other things to consider is the locations available for you to take your exam, and how full they are...some people wish to take their test far from where they live, others want to be close by. I had a friend who took NCLEX-RN the day after Thanksgiving 2006 after graduating last June because it took awhile to get a space to take it where she wanted to go and eventually, she took it in another borough just to get it overwith.

NCLEX is highly individualized...meaning that it will not be that all test takers will get identical questions. Some are more based on pediatrics, others get elder care, alot of pharmacology and such. Mine was primarily neuro and digestive system questions. I did get 2 on TB, 2 on Hepatitis, and the things I totally expected to receive, got nothing. Nothing on diabetes or asthma, insulin, maternal health and got one cheap shot peds question. Maybe one psych. Got 10 medications, where at least 4 or 5 were totally unfamiliar to me, 7 or 8 pick all that apply in a row (that drove me insane) and some co-horting questions. Mostly, I would get symptoms of a disease without a name, then, would ask about what diet to feed the person. If you didn't recognise the disorder, then, there was no way to figure out the diet. Unfortunately, there is no way that anyone can really predict with accuracy what sort of questions you will receive. I can say that those questions, by far, were more different than any of the 8000 some odd questions I did prior to NCLEX...they were out of left field to me. But, I did it.

I do have the Saunders flash cards, comprehensive review and used MANY CDs that my friends burned for me. Just do you best, stay focused and practice, practice, practice questions.

i also graduate in july and i agree with pandadeva2000.it cost 335 in nys so yout best ber is to call the bon. good luck

correct me if i am wrong, because i came from canada. but, for me i applied with the bon where i wanted to get my license, they let me know by sending me an att (authorization to test). this att is only good for 3 months. so then once you get your att you online or on the phone contact pearson vue to book your testing day in whatever testing site you want. i had 2 books, i mostly used "nclex-pn exam practice questions exam cram (exam cram 2)" but did use "delmar's nclex-pn review" also. i passed with 85 questions. just do as many questions as you can to prepare yourself for that style of exam and relax you know your information or you wouldn't be finishing school. good luck.

oh, yes, and i did forget to mention that once receiving the att, we in new york were told that it is good for one year. i also used delmar's a great deal. they have a nice chapter on pharmacology...the monster weakness of mine.

I used Saunders and Kaplan books. I liked the Kaplan book alot because it tells you how to take computerized tests. I too am a bad test taker. I also purchased the Q-bank from Kaplan and did alot of my review from that.

I took my boards this past friday and recieved my quick results from pearsonvue yesterday, and I passed. I had 85 questions.
