ABOHN CSAT now $50 and two volumes?

ABOHN Certification Self Assessment Test (CSAT) is a self-assessment test for cohn or cohn-s and used to be free, now it's $50 for volume I and $50 for volume II in each category (though you generally only test for one category).

Frankly it irks me that they charge $50 for a .pdf of a mere 50 questions especially since not so long ago, it was free.

Does anyone know why there are now two volumes?

Has it changed from about 5 years ago (the questions)

Perhaps this is a new low for occupational health nurses, scrounging the bottom for $50 for a mere document with 50 sample questions, c'mon... agree or disagree?

Has anyone used this self-assessment test, I did about 5 years ago when it was free.

Thoughts anyone?

It is expensive and really not worth the money. I copied someone I worked with packet. I took a review course and it did not help either- work paid for it. I need to take my test soon and I just started studying. I figured I would study and review and then just go for it. I just went to the AAOHN conference and the certification test is going to change so if you were thinking of taking it take it before November 2019.

You say that you took a review course and it didn't help. I am a long time COHN-S, so my questions are just out of curiosity. Which review course did you take? If you have been working and have your CAOHC and NIOSH certifications and have experience with Respirator Fit testing, that will help immensely. I did not have those courses and only limited exposure to the knowledge base involved with those when I took the test. But I went to two review courses, and by far the best was the one given by Bonnie Roger's group out of North Carolina. If you are nervous about passing at all, I highly recommend the North Carolina group that is affiliated with Dr. Rogers. Good luck on the test!

I would have to agree with you. Put the fifty dollars toward a good review course! I cannot even fathom paying that much for, as you said, a pdf. nope, nope, nope.

Please direct message me for further details, but I gotta tell you...I just took the COHN-S and I studied for about 6 months for it. I studied the COHN review course materials from Annette Haag’s course. I also purchased every practice test ABOHN offered including all COHN tests and COHN-S tests. The materials covered probably 10-15 of the 160 questions on the test. Unbelievable!!!
