I have appreciated all previous posts on this matter ,and just wanted to reach out and ask if anyone has taken the 2016 version (or other other recent versions) of the AANP FNP exam (as most of the other posts are a bit outdated). I am looking for any type of advice on this exam (regarding prep work, or even day of/week of advice. I am currently scheduled to take the exam at the end of this month (in two weeks).
As for prep work thus part I have purchased and completed the Fitzgerald Review, Read Leik's most recent book and done the corresponding questions in the back of the book, and have taken the AANP FNP practice exam on their website, only scoring a 72% (66% is passing on this exam). This of course made me a little more anxious than I already was. After taking the practice exam, I've realized my weak areas and plan to spend some time on those in the next two weeks.
Any other words of advice on this matter, are definitely welcome! Thank you in advance!!
Of the two, Leik had actual questions almost word-for-word that were on the exam. Amelie's "predictor" exams aren't like the test - but if you score at least a 70 on them, you can have at least some confidence. I bought the app for the Leik questions and went over them at least 3 times...yes, you do memorize by then, but you need to have a solid foundation before you test. Hopefully you have attended at least 1 review course - I did two of them and it really helps.

I agree that we need to hear what to study from those taking the test successful and not (those who post after failing are real champions as far as I am concerned - It has to be hard ant they still want to help others). I also believe study tips and tricks related to specific topics and diseases is also high value i.e. Murmurs, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, JNC 7/8, Asthma etc also tips on Professional Issues. We represent many programs, many books and many review courses. If we put up the best of the best "tips & tricks" and web sites along with advice from candidates who have previously taken the exam it may lead to many, many more candidates being successful. So what to study, how to study and the best study material will be of most value to those who have not tested or passed yet. We see the main reviews discussed in most of the posts (Fitzgerald Health Education Associates Margaret Fitzgerald, Welcome to Barkley & Associates Barkley, APEA - Advanced Practice Education Associates Live Course Review Amelie Hollier and Maria Condina Leik schedules (The students rave about thisc ourse but it is given on a limited basis). For ANCC the course the deals best with professional issues is best suited, online vs CD's, vs Live depends on life style and the type of learner you are
From reading the forum is seems the are all about equal, but reviewing the workbooks and most have a review book that goes with their course.
If we could identify the best tips from each course and what is most likely to be asked it we could develop a high yield study guide....
Lastly which test bank and rationals to purchase....
Just a few thoughts...
The posts are GREAT... and Invaluable as far as I am concerned and I hope everyone continues to post their valuable advice....
