AANP or ANCC?

I took the ANCC exam first and did not pass. Decided to go with AANP the second time around and was not successful either. I personally liked the formatting of the AANP exam but have thought about signing up for both this third time around (just so I do not have to wait to test with either).

I wanted to know thoughts on which exam to retest with the third time around?

What made you go with one exam over the other or what did you think of either exam?

I would strongly suggest taking a comprehensive review course.

The AANP exam can only be taken twice in a calendar year and you will need 15 contact hours in your areas of weakness prior to retesting. The exam is more clinically focused and has a higher pass rate than the ANCC exam.

The ANCC exam can only be taken 3 times in a 12 month period. There is a 60-day waiting period. The exam is more broad and less clinical.

I found the AANP exam easier overall if that helps.

Again, can't stress enough, take a comprehensive review course.

I've already taken Leik's live review webinar. Shes live on camera. She offers the class free to take as many times as possible if you fail the exam. Any others you recc or is there one you took that you felt help you prepare very well?

How did you feel while taking the Leik review? How many hours was it? Was it new material for you or did you feel like it was a pure review?

I am partial to the Fitzgerald course; excellent tack record for having students pass.

Boston, why was the AANP exam easier? Is it because it had less of the theory/role type questions?

Comparing strictly the clinical questions, were they roughly equal in difficulty?

The pure clinical questions on the AANP exam were slightly more straightforward and basic in my opinion, and the AANP exam is a more focused exam in general.

I like the Leik review. Some info was pure review and some was new. No Fitzgerald reviews in my state this year, do you think its worth traveling out of town for? Any thoughts or heard of the Kellerman review?

I used the Fitzgerald audio CDs non-stop along with the her review books and I passed AANP. I borrowed my set but a friend found hers on Amazon used for $150, so worth looking..
