A new CNA

Published

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I just found out that I passed my state test and I am now a CNA! My skills were ROM, Pulse and Res., and dressing. In the last six months I earned my GED, got my cert. from The Red Cross in CPR/AED and First Aid and now I passed my state CNA exam. My brain hurts. LOL Tomorrow I start a job in a Dementia Ward at a Nursing Home. Im a 44 year old male and even though it was tuff at times, I made it this far. For anyone that may be struggling with there class, I just want to say hang in there and you will be fine.

And one more set of congratulations to brykrandy!

You've come a long way, in a short time. You've accomplished a lot.

That drive will serve you well, in future. In your case, especially, never set your goals (too) low.

I just took my CNA state exam today. The skills were actually simple. Male peri-care, clearing the obstructed airway, partial bed bath, handwashing, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure. The testers literally walked us through each one but I think I left a bedrail down when raising the bed at some point during perineal care but I cant say for sure. It seems that would be something she would have stopped me from doing. Anyhow, I have to anxiously wait 30 days for the result. Best of luck to you on your new position and future endeavors.
