I'm new here and I think the discussion is great. I've found that discussions on the topic of circumcision can get very mean spirited. It's a "sensitive" issue!

I feel that the decision to circ or not to circ should be left up to the person who will be using and caring for the "tool" for the rest of his life. When a baby is circ'ed, the decision is taken away.

My son is "intact" and has had no problems.

There is, by the way, a method by which men who are circumcised and want to experience it "the other way" can do it, non-surgically. It's not exactly the way it would have been, but they say it's close. Visit http://www.norm.org

Welcome Bob, thanks for the links. Make sure you stop by our Off Topic forum and tell us about yourself. This is a great BB to share info.

Bob, welcome. Glad you feel free to post your opinions. I have stayed away from that thread, b/c I am tired of hearing what a "bad" mother I am for inflicting such God-awful torture on my son and taking away his choice.

From the little I read, the men who were circ'd at birth do not feel deep seated resentment or feel that they have missed anything. Maybe my son will be in therapy b/c I did this to him, I can live with that.

Sometimes circ is a cultural or religious ritual. Everyone has their reasons.

What would be nice is if a person can come on the BB and give their opinion w/o someone else making them feel their opinion is "wrong" simply b/c it is different.

Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one! ;)

hoolahan,

The last tread posted by Kennedy was actually the most relavent thread on this subject that I have ever seen. There was not a whole lot of name calling on it at all.

The topic was discussed in a fun and some what informative manner.

I know you're right wild. I did read a bit of it, enough to feel absolved of my maternal guilt by what the circ'd guys said.

I forget when this topic came up in the past, wow, the whole thing was very anti-circ, and rather nasty, so, like the religious threads, I choose to sit on my hands and resist the urge to type my opinion. :D

Sometimes I just read, I try to keep that big 'ol Fred Flintstone foot out of my mouth as much as possible, doesn't always work!

When I had my son in 88 I thougt you had to have your son circumcised. Boy now reading literature on it I feel pretty bad putting my baby through that barbaric act (my opinion) If you teach your son good hygiene I don't see having foreskin would be a problem. After all if it isn't broken don't fix it.

I don't feel mothers out there are bad parents it is their choice. Remember some cultures believe in it. It doesn' interfere with a man's performance where as women who are brutally cirucumcised removing their secret joy now that is torture.
