A little bit of encouragement

Published

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say that whether you are just starting your nursing journey, or waiting to get accepted into a program , to keep going no matter how long you believe it will take. My biggest issue throughout college so far has been comparing where I am to where other people are. I graduated HS in 2010, so a lot of my peers already have their degrees. My first two years of college were disastrous, so I spent 2 more years playing "catch up". Next semester will be my last before applying to my program, since my pre-reqs will be done. Even though I will be 24 by the time I finally start, that no longer bothers me. We are so set in the idea that we are supposed to meet certain milestones in our life at an "acceptable age", that it brings us down when we don't. I have learned that comparison really is the thief of joy, and you never know how many people are fighting to get where you are. Keep going! :) The time will pass anyway.

Thank you for the positive energy!! I am on same boat. I am 21 years old graduated high school in 2011 and I am constantly being reminded by my parents that I should be graduating this year had I not made stupid decisions.

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I just got a C in anatomy (i'm 18, first semester of college) and it really bummed me out. I lost the battle but I didn't win the war and I'm going to retake it. We have to keep following our dreams! :)

Thank you for posting this! I really needed this.. I get frustrated seeing all the people I graduated with already with their degree's and working in their dream job. If I could go back I would of taken the first years of college seriously and not just fool around dropping classes, taking random classes and not giving my 100% effort. And now Im suffering the consequences =( I wasted 6 years!! Yep that long.. but now that I have a beautiful daughter Im coming back strong and determined to get my degree. Im a little bum down because I just received a C in Human Development, I had a 4.0 so Im super disappointed that my GPA will drop dramatically and at the same time freaking out that some CSU's wont accept any "C" for pre-req classes.
