Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi, I got accepted to a community college for assoc. in science, Prof. studies, general program. I wanna be a nurse. I've got few questions, if u answer all, that would be a real help :)

1. Can i transfer to a nursing school for 2 years to obtain my bsc since i will have associates in science?

2. Can i become a nurse in 4yrs (2yrs in associates in science + 2yrs in bsc) after my high school graduation?

OP, I'm going to say you didn't get into the nursing program because you need to complete the prereqs and entrance exam needed to apply. You are still in high school, correct?

The best thing for you to do is to complete the prenursing track for the program at the school you wish to attend. You are sounding like you are accepted to a CC for a specific degree. All you need to do is go and sign up for the classes needed for the nursing program. You don't need an Associate's degree in professional science.

I know for financial aid they want you to have a declared major. That's why there are now prenursing degrees. I'm not sure what a college admissions officer is trying to sell you, but see if you can actually sit with an advisor. They will be able to point you in the right direction. Getting a professional science degree from a cc is a waste of time and money.

OP,

You can attend community college to take prerequisites and not complete a degree. Many people take gen ed courses at the community college because it is much cheaper and then transfer those credits to a 4 year school and enter a degree program. Formally completing the general science associate degree program will just cost you more money and the degree won't really get you anywhere.
