Now let me start of by saying ... No! I am not obsessed with cleaning ... but... but...

I have noticed that I cannot sit down and study or get things done until my room is in order and my own person is nice and clean.

Ugh ... sometimes it's annoying but ... can you blame me? I don't feel motivated to study if I have 30 articles of clothing on the flooor, along with Septembers issue of People magazine!!!

Well I was delighted to find out my nurse was JUST like me.

Before he began assessing, gathering meds, and charting ... he quickly wiped down his little nursin' buggy with lysol wipes and organized his IV supplies, injection supplies, alcohol wipes, and other materials. He had a nice clipboard, he gave about two sheets per pt... each sheet of paper containing one those stickers with the pt info.

He said ... yes it takes him 3-5 minutes NOW but ... it will save him running around and losing 15 minutes later.

He also used a plastic baggy for each pt, each baggy had their meds ... and their name... which was stored either in there little locked box next to the chart or in the locked drawer of the buggy.

What are those buggies called? Idk what else to call them... but buggies... just sounds so southern ... and considering I'm from the south it works (=

Okay enough spending time on All Nurses and back to studying for finals.

BTW ... I take and accept ALL little tricks of the trade (= so please drop by any tips you have in regards to organization or really ... anything. I want to know what yah got for me!

Buggie, cart, I can't figure out what you are talking about. I assume its something on wheels that the nurse pushes around? I have never seen anything that is push able. All of the supply and medication cabinets are not mobile.

Anyways, I am like that with the studying and cleaning too, but its the clutter that affects me the most. It is really distracting to try and concentrate in a room with clutter everywhere. My boyfriend (that I live with) does not understand and is not that great about keeping things clean. He works and goes to school, and I am in school full time. Neither of us have much free time to clean. After multiple conversations about this, we finally decided to turn the bedroom into my study space. We bought a small desk for the corner, and it was understood that the bedroom had to stay clean and clutter free. It has worked out really well. He is really good about not making a mess in the bedroom. Most of the time the rest of our place is a wreck, but I can go into my sanctuary and have no problems concentrating.

Lol they usually call those "buggies" med-carts! At least that's what every facility I have worked for has called them!

Like me! I'm slobby slobby at home, but at work and school I'm very organized.

We call them W.O.W's. Workstation On Wheels. We used to call them COW's (computer on wheels), but the myth is someone said at work said "cows" and patients thought the nurses were calling them cows.

We call them laptops. Or rubbermaid. That's right the same company who makes your tupperware makes medical mobile stations. When you realize what patients you run into, you learn to wipe down everything, before you use it. Next thing you know, you will pick your nose and get MRSA in your nose.
