I'm wondering if anyone has taken A&P through TCC? I'm taking it this fall and have lots of butterflies about it...just looking for some info regarding how difficult it might be, study tips, testing tips, etc. Any info is appreciated! Thanks!!!

I am with you, I am enrolled for it this fall also. I talked to a lady who just finished it at TCC this spring and summer and she said it just takes a lot of studying. She said she spend alot of time in the lab over and over. Her advice was to not take any other class along with A & P. I unfortunately can't do that so I will just have to work extra hard.

I took Hum A&P 141 and 142 at TCC Ches campus. I earned a B borderline A in both. You absolutely can take this class along with something else. You just need to have a plan about studying and stick to it!! I am a mother of 4 children and work full time. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do! A&P requires a lot of memorization! There is a great website at yahoo.com under groups especially designed for students taking A&P at TCC. It has all of the models labeled and gives you a good idea of what the practicals will be like. The best advice I can give you is to Study Study Study. Spend as much time as you can in open lab to review all of the parts.
Here is a link to that website http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BIO141/ Feel free to email me with anymore questions. Also if you have not done it already take a look at www.ratemyprofessors.com and check out your professors. I have learned that most of the time the comments left about the professors are right on target!!!:typing
this rate my professor site is interesting! I am worried though, the A & P professor for my fall class only has two ratings/comments and they are both bad! It is the only class I can take this semester due to my work schedule. I guess I will have to see what the first week brings and drop it if she seems too bad.
Hi turtlesrus
Who are you taking and at what campus? Did you get a chance to look at the yahoo.com group site?
My professor is listed as being on the Norfolk, Campus and no I haven't looked at the Yahoo Site yet.
Thanks for all the great information! I joined the Yahoo group yesterday and I've read the first three chapters in the book. Has anyone else purchased the textbook yet? I ended up buying it off amazon after I nearly died at the price at the bookstore. I'm taking the class on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the lab on Friday at the VB campus. I looked at the professor website and thankfully both of mine have good reviews. Thanks again for the information!

Keep in mind that people are more likely to rant about bad experiences with professors than they are to rave about good ones. So take what you read on these rating/review sites with a grain of salt. Some of my best teachers (in NS as well as out of it) were ones that had bad press.
A&P is a lot of studying and memorization, but it's doable. Pick up "Anatomy and Physiology the Easy Way" as a helpful review guide.
Hey Two sugars
What book do you need. I have one that I would gladly give away. I refuse to sell it back for only $25.00. It is a brand new book I just bought in Jan!!!! My A&P book is titled Human Anatomy & Physiology seventh edition,
isbn 0-8053-5910-9.

Which professor do you have at the Norfolk campus? I took my A&P's there and can give you lots of help...

I will have to send you a private message about the professors at TCC, you are not suppose to mention them by name on here (I made that mistake already and received a little message reminder that it was against the rules of the forum).

Thanks for the offer of your book taandoh! I appreciate it :) I bought the text about three weeks ago from Amazon--it's Saladin, 5th edition. The bookstore price was a packaged deal, (text, lab manual, cd, internet connect card) for $400. I thought the person at the bookstore was kidding when she told me the price! I went onto Amazon and got everything listed above for $225--still a chunk but better than nearly double that! I am taking it at the VB campus and very nervous about it. I think I'll do ok, but not having had a science for over 10 years, it's definitely got me concerned. I can't believe that it starts next week!
Thanks for all your help!
