Sent in my Riverside application today!!!!
I believe that you do have to complete the TEAS before they give you response on acceptance. Take your time and study for the teas test. It covers everything and the better you do the more likely you are to get accepted. Good luck!

Chasing doen pt's
I hate to admit but you know some patients you just have to chase down! No matter how hard you arrange a time to visit and they agree they somewho are not home!! These particular patients tend to do well with the drive by method. Most of the time you can catch them at home especially if you stop by in the morning before they get going! If they are not there then you can simply leave them a doorhanger and notify everyone that needs to be notified. I have done drive by only to find that patient in some weird problem that I was glad that I did do a drive by or the situtition could have been a lot worst. I think making an attempt to at least see that patient is better than not going by because you couldn't reach them! Good Luck!

Riverside vs MCI
I am also a student of Riverside Lpn to RN program and must say that I have had a great experience so far! The clinical time is amazing and you will definitely come out with the skill you need to be a successful nurse!

Medical Careers Institute VA Beach or Newport News??
Good Luck with Riverside. I took am going to Riverside Lpn to RN program and I must say that I am very happy so far with the clinicals and what I have learned. There definetly is an advantage to attending a hospital based program. I have seen MCI students come in and waiting around for their instructor ( I was told the instructor is usually late). I am not knocking MCI because you have to do whatever works for you! However I am glad that my total for the RN bridge program will cost roughly $9000.00 instead of over $30,000. So with all that being said keep an open mind and do what is going to work for you!!:)

Questions about Riverside School of Nursing.
Hi, I am starting Riverside program in Jan 2011. I believe that you indeed need to take a college level chemistry. That was the last I had to do and just finnished the exam yesterday!!! Apply as soon as you can. It is a rolling application and admission. As soon as you get scheduled for Chemistry and have all of app filled out (beside the chemistry) I would go down and apply. They get back to you rather quickly. I wasn't even finnished with you pre reqs and still got accepted on a conditional basis. Riverside is a great school and I am looking forward to it!!! Anymore questions please just let me know!!

TCC science course question
Well I can tell you just from my personal experience I took Hum A/P during the summer. I wanted to continue to get the A/P out of the way. So if you are currently taking A/P now take A/P in spring and then take Micro in the summer. It was hard (especially since all I wanted to do was hang out with my kids and travel)however very doable. I did take that class along with something easy like Developmental Psych. I sweaked out an A. I am currently taking Micro now. It is different from A/P however still requires a lot of studying. Most of the slides are online and I dont have to live in the lab. I say all that to say... It probably doesnt even really matter what order since you probably need both in order to get into the nursing program you just have to put your head down and dig in!!!:smackingf. I hope I gave you some insight instead leaving you confused:rolleyes:. either way GOOD LUCK!!

Can You Suggest Home Care Bags that You USE or LOVE?
I have a great bag that I bought from Walmart. It is actually a tool bag called Fat Max. Hard bottom and soft sides. It has a lot of compartments on the inside as well as the outside. Also has 2 great places to hang and secure a couple of scissors and kelly clamps. My bag has been going strong for more than 2yrs with no rips, or bust pockets or zippers. I love it! I bought it from wal mart for less than 20 bucks. I believe the brand name is Stanley. Hope that helps.

MCI Newport News, Riverside or Sentara nursing schools??
I use to work in the gi lab within Leigh Memorial probably about 6 years ago. I did all kinds of procedures including colonscopy, endoscopy, ERCP,bronchoscopy, paracenthesis, insert peg tubes, remove foregin objects from every body opening and so on... we did a lot of consicous sediation and monitoring pt after procedure. Everyone rotated and I got a really good experience work experience. It was my first nursing job out of LPN school. It was great!
