A&P Summer 2008

Published

Hi y'all! I'm planning on taking A&P I for this summer and this thread is for anyone else doing the same. Am I crazy for taking a summer AP class? You betcha! :smokin: It's gonna be MTThF 5-9:30PM, starting in june and lasting 8 weeks. I'm working a full-time contract on the side that I'll finish up at the end of June, so for me it'll be full-time work for the first half, but then a much-needed break from work at the last half of the semester. Any advice from the AP veterans out there?

I'm sure it's possible, but also crazy :) haha jk

I just finished A&P and it was a lot of work- if flashcards work for you start them from class one so that for the final you can just go over all of them to study.

I agree with the person who said learn bones and muscles now. You don't have to get very specific (for example, we didn't have to know all of the ridges on the bones- you might, but trying to learn them all would be frustrating if you didn't have to) but even just knowing where the main bones and muscles are will save you a bit of precious time later on.

If you want to get a bit ahead you could also learn the directional terms (ex. anterior, superior, distal, ex.) as they're not that hard to learn, but knowing them right off the bat will help

But don't study too hard now- save it for when you're in the course!

Good luck!

I took A & P I and A & P II in summer sessions last year, each session was almost 6 weeks and I did fine, you should have no problem doing it in 8 weeks as long as you dedicate plenty of time for studying. Hope this helps!

It always helps when other's have done what you are attempting to do. I might be taking A&P II this summer and it's about 6 1/2 weeks long. It seems like a lot of info to fit into 6.5 weeks. What helped you keep up with the work, and how did you organize your self?

THanks for the input!

i will be taking Anatomy this summer (8wk course). Here in San Diego they don't have A&P together.. its just Anatomy by itself.

Good luck!! And i love the links everyone!

I'm taking A&P1 this Summer also, along with Growth and Development and PE. I've already ordered the text book and started flash cards and studying at least one hour every other night. I'm taking an online class with Saturday morning lab. My best friend is taking the same class and professor now so that is a HUGE help to me in knowing exactly what to focus my study time on. I am surrounded by friends and family that are nurses already and all have said that it is a matter of taking the time daily to focus and study. So that is what we have to do. :)

Good luck!:wink2:

I am taking A&P I this summer, MW 6-11 PM. Gah!

I have to make an A in this class so I'll be looking for all the study tips I can get!

Thanks for that site. I briefly reviewed it and I was proud to say I was already doing well. Hopefully by the time I start the class in June I'll have everything down pat.
