A&P study guides

Hey everyone- does anyone have any suggestions about A&P study guides? I saw a post about coloring guides, but when I went on Amazon there were several and I wasn't sure which would be most effective. Does anyone have any input?

Thanks so much!!

I have done searches on what I was studying at the time like heart muscles, or veins and arteries. I was going to paste and copy from the address window but it was so long that it took to much room.

Any way It helped me out alot. One website I am guessing is an online class but you move your cursor over the spot say bone or artery or organ and it high lights it. Then you are able to call that muscle or bone or artery what have you then you double click it to check your answer. if I can figure a simple way to get it copied and pasted I will send it to you later.

Sue... BTW I made A's in A and P. So it did help

When I had A&P I spent alot of time in the lab. We would have open labs & you could go in & practice on the models, bones, cats ect. This really helped me & when my lab practical came along I was familiar with everything I was being tested on. Alot of students filmed the materials & studied at home. It is like everything else just keep doing it over & over until you get it!! Like another poster said there are some great websites too. I just googled until I found what I needed. I also did well in this class so it worked for me.Good Luck :)

Getbodysmart.com is a good website to help you review some more basic principles as well as Hole's Human Anatomy and Physiology website in general. The address is http://www.mhhe.com/shier Personally, I didn't use any coloring books. I spent lab time with my professor and she gave me tons of tips and tricks as far as anatomy was concerned. Good luck!

I bought this study guide off Amazon and it really was pretty darn good. I read it after reading the chapters + Id do the tests.

I have taken A&P1 and was in Borders yesterday. Looked at the study guides they had, and realized that the stuff we had to learn was at a much deeper level than anything covered in the guides. So I'm not sure if anything like that would help. When I was taking the class, and I was confused, I never looked at anything outside my textbook and lecture notes. I found if I did, it just confused me more. It doesn't help that there are certain "facts" that all the textbooks don't agree on.

I actually bought the study guide that went with my lecture book... (Marieb) I also bought the Cliff Notes A&P book. Anyway, I used them a couple of times, but actually FORGOT I had them!!! :chuckle

What I did did to study A&P 1 was: I took pictures of all the models we had to learn, searched the internet for different models, photos, etc and studied almost all day! I also made quizzes to study with. I typed my notes, while relistening to the lecture (to make sure I didn't miss anything while taking notes during lecture). Then, I read the notes, recorded them with WavePad that I downloaded off the internet, and made a CD of the notes. I listened to them everytime I got in my truck. FYI, I passed A&P 1 with 101%!!!

Good luck!!!

I went to your website. VERY impressive. I said this in your guestbook. I took pictures of my microscope cells and tissue. Did you use a digital camera? I swear those pictures look identical. I didn't think it would work but they turned out fiine. I would have loved to had a website like that but doggone I have been so busy with 15 and 16 hours a semester, I don't know how you had the time. EXCELLENT though. I am finished with my A & P but kept my book for reference when in Nursing School (don't how much it will help but don't want to miss a thing) again GOOD JOB

Hello

I have found 2 study guides that are available through Barnes and Noble or probably any other bookstore and they are not real expensive.

1. Anatomy & Physiology for Dummies

2. Schaum's Outline of Human Anatomy and Physiology

A friend of mine that is now in the nursing program went and bought the Anatomy & physiology for Dummies book that she is going to use as a brushup for nursing, she said it was really good.

As for me I took anatomy last semester and received a C- therefore I have to repeat it because I have to have a C ughhh!!!!! :rotfl:

Hope this helps! Theresa

Thanks! :) I actually have been making websites for about 8-9-10 years?? So, it's like writing notes for me....just another way to study. Plus, I was only taking 1 class most of the time, and only 2 classes the last 6 weeks of the semester. :)

I did use a digital camera. I took pictures of everything I saw. I wanted to take pics of A&P2 stuff, but didn't have the time, that will have to wait until July lol

Our colleges must have had the same slides, did I identify them correctly? I just wrote the captions a couple of days ago.....3-4 months after I studied the tissues in class. lol My instructor was impressed that it actually worked when he saw me taking the pics through the lens. ;)

I think they are and as far as I can tell they are identified correctly. I went in on power point and made slides of my tissues, bones, arteries, etc. I had them to scroll on my computer. as Screen savers and things like that. when I was studying them. Seems to have helped a little.
