Can anyone recommend a study guide for A&P. I have to take a test because it has been more than 3 years since I took A&P I and II. Also a study guide for the NLN-RN pre-entrance exam. Thanks

Get the Anatomy and Physiology coloring books!! Seriously they carry them at Barnes and Noble one book for each, and they helped me so much, and it was a fun way to help learn the material.

hi, carilyn!

decided to go back to school like so many of us did, eh? :lol2: i had to take a & p over because my bsn school said i had taken it too long ago. there are all kinds of anatomy websites that you can access for free to help you review this stuff. you can find some of the links listed on this thread which is on the pre-nursing student forum of allnurses: https://allnurses.com/forums/f198/great-anatomy-site-141642.html. there is a great site where you can label all kinds of parts of the human anatomy called web anatomy and it is from the a&p department of the university of minnesota http://www.msjensen.gen.umn.edu/webanatomy/. you can also access the online student learning center (a student resource) for hole's textbook of human anatomy and physiology, 10th edition, at this website: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072919329/student_view0/index.html. you will find synopses of the information in each chapter of the book along with little online exercises and flashcards as well, i believe. what better way to go through a textbook for free! to refresh your mind on some biological concepts use kimballs' biology pages here: http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/biologypages/. professor kimball taught at harvard, but is now retired. he maintains this abbreviated version of his textbook. if you feel like you might want to get an anatomy textbook, go to a used bookstore and get a used one that is cheap. new information in most of the basics of human anatomy doesn't change a whole lot in 3 years.

i can't begin to tell you what is on the nln-rn pre-entrance exam, but if you are willing to spend the bucks there are study guides on the market. you can find them by searching on barnes and noble or amazon websites. my guess, however, is that if you are already a nurse and this test is to test your nursing knowledge, then whatever you used to take your nclex or a nclex prep book is going to work just as well. my two cents :twocents: and wisdom for you as someone who went back to school. . .as you get into higher and higher college nursing programs, the focus tends to be on critical thinking and being able to use your noodle to solve problems. that brings up the whole subject of the nursing process. know the sequence and the steps of the nursing process and what goes on in each and that will help you answer a good many of the nursing questions correctly as well as knowing the basics of treatment and care. the nursing process is addressed and discussed in the first 10 pages or so of every single care plan book on the market. if you've been working as a nurse you've probably got most of the basics of treatment and care pretty well ingrained by now just through what you've seen and experienced in your clinical practice.

see you on the forums! welcome to allnurses! :welcome:
