A&P 1 Spring 08

Published

Hi y'all! Anybody taking A&P 1 this coming spring semester? I'm trying to get as many pre-req's out of the way as possible and could use a study buddy or 2! Thanks! :)

Hello everyone,

I've been taking A&PI this semester as well...and it's definitely been challenging, but very interesting. Are any of you thinking of taking A&PII or microbiology in the summer. I really would like to take both in the summer. I hear that it's pretty intense. I would take the first one summer session I and the other class summer session III. Any ideas, suggestions, input?

Thanks!:specs:

I just registered yesterday for A&P II and Microbio and their labs for summer semester! I'm taking them both at the same time, it's an 8 week session. I think I'm probably insane but hey, I'm ok with spending every waking moment of my life studying for 2 months. I'm trying to have all my prereqs completed before the fall and these are my last 2. I figure that might give me a fighting chance for nursing school since several of my apps would be due before fall semester grades were in. I think it's a good idea to go ahead and get them done if you think you can manage. Good luck to you and let me know if you decide to take them this summer. Maybe we can form another "support thread";)!

i am going to take Micro this summer thru LMU, Tennessee

Hi, what school do you attend? Is your midterm online or proctored? I am taking AP1 online and it is HARD!!! Thanks!

I'm going to Rio Salado right now. The exams are at their testing site or you can set up a proctor. All the quizzes and labs are online. The midterm and final have to be in person. I should be studing right now. But I'm taking a break

I'm going to start A & P II as soon as I finish this one. I think there is two week window between my final and the start of the class. I am taking it with Eng102 & Algebra. If i stick with my plan I'll start CHM130 and Psy203 and my Hum Elective in Aug. The Micro and the last of my Co-reqs prior to Jan. When I want to start NS:nurse:

I have a tissues question. What divides connective tissue into two categories? It's the presence or absence of something.

Hi,

How is the Anatomy class at Rio Salado ? Any particular teachers you recommend ? I've been thinking of enrolling there but haven't heard good things. I may enroll at Edukan instead.

I just had my midterm with Rio for A&P 1. The materials with the program are great. You get a lot of online support but I not a whole lot of professor support. I really wish there was a lecture portion or a hybrid version of the class to take instead. It is all what you make of it tho I guess. I am going to do all my pre-req's and co-req's through RIO.

I didn't know there were just two categories (we've learned them as loose areolar ct, adipose ct, dense irregular ct, etc.)...the only thing I can think of is if you're talking about ct proper vs. other types, but I'm pretty sure ct proper is another name for the loose areolar ct...can you give us some clarification?

yes, the two categories are connective tissue proper and specialized connective tissue. i'm taking a&p online and i'm doing a tissues lab report. i have to fill out the lab report and this is the question " on the basis of the presence or absence of () connective tissues may be divided into two groups." i can't find anything in my book that would fill in that blank. i was thinking maybe it's something that is found in ct proper that isn't found in cartilage, bone, and blood, but i can't figure out what it would be. are there fibroblasts in cartilage, bone, and blood? thanks so much for trying to help me.:D

i think you're right, it should be fibroblasts. in cartilage it's the chondroblasts that secrete the matrix materials, which in turn ossify (sp?) and form bone during endochondral ossification. in blood the matrix is the plasma and i don't think it has any fibers. we never really learned the differentiation b/t proper vs. other ct, just that the types of ct proper were so different from blood/bone/cartilage that they were given their own category. sorry i don't know more, hope that helps a little!
