A&P / Pre-Accelerated BSN review courses prep

Published

I am starting an accelerated BSN program in January 2019, and it's been about 5 years since I've taken both A&P I and II. I did well the first time, but all of my prerequisites were completed with my first degree which I received over 3 years ago, so I am worried this might be too far out that I haven't retained information necessary for succeeding in the accelerated BSN program.

I have been looking for a "refresher" course online so that this information can be fresh in my mind before starting the program. I still have my textbooks but I don't retain as much by just reading through them. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use? I am trying to save as much money as possible before I go back to school, so ideally nothing too expensive. Any free options would be ideal... Suggestions?

For other ABSN students who took a few years off before going back, did you feel prepared having a gap between prerequisites and starting the nursing classes?

Thanks!!

If you don't mind spending a bit of extra time finding things, you could probably just review using free online videos. Crash Course A&P gives a good basic overview of all the systems. And Khan Academy has tons of A&P videos that go into a lot more detail. I think they might also have little quizzes and such for each system too. I also really liked Armando Hasudungan's videos, though I don't think his is as organized. But I really used his endocrine videos when I was reviewing for the TEAS.

I've also just found a lot of different channels on Youtube that go over any topic I can think of, so you could definitely use your textbook to figure out an outline, find videos that cover those topics, and use that to review.

However, if you need more of a classroom setting, hopefully someone can recommend one. I'm just cheap lol

Hello! I am about to begin an ABSN program as well. Here are a couple free sites on YouTube:

Osmosis

Crash Course - Anatomy & Physiology

Here's one that's not too expensive, and really helps you remember:

Picmonic

This guy is absolutely fantastic: Armando Hasudungan

He has a lot of anatomy and physiology, but he also has a ton of pathophysiology.

Wow MJT_BSN2B!

I had never heard about Picmonic before until you listed it on this thread. This site is fantastic! I just went through a few of them and already remembered some things. Thanks for the tip!

And to the original poster, Armando Hasudungan is really great! I have used him a few times for each of the science classes I've taken.
