Hi For those who completed A&P and Microbiology by taking Excelsior tests, can you tell me how you prepared yourself? (what texts, study methods, etc., did you use?)
Thanks,

Hi. I didn't take A&P through EC (already had credits from LPN school), but I did take Micro. I simply read the text from cover to cover and took the test. Took about 4 weeks. Sorry, not creative or thorough, but I passed with a B. It worked for me. One thing I would recommed for ALL EC exams is to take to Practice Test through EC online. Don't know if there is one for prereq exams though. Best wishes and God bless!

I took both through EC. I was as creative as anticoagulationurse
I read the texts from cover to cover also, made notecards to study from and followed the content guide. I made A's in both. I found that the Micro content guide follows the book to a 'T'.
Best of luck to you!! :balloons:

I think I read in the study guide that one of the recommended books was the Microbiology Color Book. I've been spending all kinds of time coloring the slides instead of reading the text. At this rate, it will take till Christmas to color the whole book so I can start reading the text!!!How helpful would that info be OR do you feel that most of the questions on the test were covered from the Micro text itself?

Do you mean all the recommended texts or which one specifically?

When I took them, I found that most of the needed information could be found in the first textbook listed on the content guide. For each of those classes, I checked out that first listed textbook from the library.
