A&P in making my life hell

Published

I don't know why. But I can just can't seem to do decent in A&P. This is the only class that I can't do well. I m currently of the verge of nursing failing and mentally dying. I have tried reading the textbook, flash cards, taking notes in class, recording lecture. NOTHING WORKS. I just don't know what to do anymore. My exam grades just keep going down the drain. Is it so hard to get a B. People said that A&P are suppose to weed out the weaklings. I don't just don't know anymore. There's this person whom I consider a friend, but she always ask about my grades and makes fun of me. She's toxic. I can't get away from her bc I have classes with her. I just need some advice on A&P.

To me it seems like you are either having a problem of thinking you know stuff when you really don't (and therefore not studying certain things enough), you are not syncing well with what the professor's expectations are, or you're having anxiety during testing causing you to blank out when you really do in fact know what the questions are asking you.

If this person is making fun of you, they are not your "friend." And whether you are in the same class or not, that has nothing to do with your ability to "get away" from her. If you don't learn this from life, you will learn from nursing school or nursing practice how to say "no." You are in charge of your life. You have the choice to stop being this person's friend if they are not contributing something positive to your life. Even if you're in the same class, you can choose to tell them that you don't want to engage with them anymore and (if you want to go into detail) why.

Anatomy is the hardest prerequisite class I have ever taken. Have you talked to your teacher? Often they can help you find new ways to study the material and offer tips as to what past students have done. It seems like you have tried a lot of things. What are you struggling with specifically? Understanding the concepts, memorizing the names of bony markings, muscles, etc? Also, what is your primary type of learning? Visual, auditory, or kinesthetic?

My science classes were a walk in the park compared to med surg, pathophysiology, and pharmacology all at once plus clinical rotations.

It's hard not to get caught up in drama or be effected by what someone else says. In the end though you're the one who will pass or fail.

You said you tried everything, but how many hours do you put in for studying each week? Do you go to peer tutoring? Have you asked if you can meet with the teacher to get study ideas or go over concepts you have trouble with?

If you can't get through A&P you're not going to get through nursing classes. Soooooo really focus, put more hours into studying, meet with your teacher, and forget about this silly girl.

Kind late, but a great update!

I got an A- in ANAT 103. I thought I would have failed by now :p
