Who all is taking A&P 2 ? Is there going to be a club?:idea:

Im having trouble with the p qrs and t also.. especially when they put all the graphs together.. with the aortic notch .. and all that.. its lines all over the place!! isnt it that the first half of the p is right atrial depolarization? and the other half is left atrial depolarization??is it the same for the qrs?? except its ventricular depolarization?

The average is in the 60 somethings....boy it was a hard test!!!!!

He said that this one was the hardest of the 4 we have to take, combined with my lab 102 I am at 97!!!!!! :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: ....for all of you who need to remember the WBC in order...Never Let Monkeys Eat Bananas (Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, Basophils)

Same here, lab was easier than lecture. The next lab will be harder, more stuff than the first. We will get to work with the fetal pig :barf02:

Lab will be Cardiovascular system and respiratory system. The next lecture will cover the heart and cardiovascular and respiratory. I guess the trick to this class is to do very well on the lab tests, get a high score and it will save your butt on the lecture tests. However he said that the next lecture test will not be as hard as this first one......let's kick butt everyone :jester:

Endocrine is last in our course but I have heard horror stories about it from others. You should do fine with the heart, sorry I can't help you with your question, we havne't covered that particular subject yet. Good luck :wink2:

I use that, too -- Our book even puts stuff like that in there. (Not enough of them, but I think it is cool that they try to put in study hints like that)

I dont know why, but I just remembered it by alphabetical order and then found other ways to remember the depolorization/ repolorization, etc. I always look for ways to remember things that are somewhat similar in actions.

Who even knows how they come up with the names they do for all of that stuff. :rolleyes: I have learned not to question some things because I know we will learn all the detail stuff in nursing school.

I even asked my teacher today, and she didn't know. Heh. Thanks for trying :D Maybe I will ask in the cardio ICU forum...

We didn't learn anything about first half of the wave and second half of the wave...sorry.

P wave, QRS complex, and T wave.

I have a silly question -- Does anyone know WHY it starts with P?

My take on this is the following: In science many things are named after the people who discovered or were involved in developing things...I think your question is related to the QRS detection Algorithm by Pan J and Tompkins. P for Pan and T for Tompkins. Maybe you could research more under Bio Medical Engineering :wink2:

The sequence is P QRS T, this stuff will come up for us next. Maybe my smart teacher knows more, I'll ask

In the meantime I will continue riding the WW wave.

Help Me please--the longer I look at this the more confused I become.

In a patient with a BP of 120/80:

the semilunar valves

open: when pressure reaches 80 mm Hg

close: when pressure reaches 120 mm Hg

the AV valves

open: pressure reaches 10 mm Hg

close: pressure reaches 0 mm Hg

Is this right? Am I way off track? :(

Well, I just had my test. It was a lot harder than my last one! It had more stuff about diseases on it, which I just kinda glossed over. I hate it when I study the wrong things.
